The sight of vast graves opening and the undead clawing out should unnerve us all. But we havent even noticed. As more blood flows than any horror film offers, its brought the hope of eternal life to bygone empires we all thought dead and buried and good riddance.
Blinded by the flash of headline events, we fail to see the strategic arcs of our era: the agonized collapse of Europes empires climaxing in the Soviet Unions demise and now, amid the chaos and fanaticism, the belief on the part of once-mighty powers that they can rebuild fallen empires.
History is vengeful toward the ignorant. And were historically illiterate.
A Turkish attempt to establish a neo-Ottoman Empire failed (none of their neighbors wanted the Turks back), but three other imperia have gotten at least one foot out of the grave: the Persian Empire, the Arab Caliphate and the Russian Empire.
Not one means us well.

Israel has concluded that war with Iran is a strategic necessity.
And I hope they take it on sooner rather than later b4its2late.
A new Persian Empire is doomed to failure, because, the old Persian Empire was not moozlem. The new Persian Empire is doing everything it can to eradicate remnants of the old Persian Empire.
"NO WORLD-WIDE APOCALYPSE, NO PEACE."
The mullah’s in Tehran are not after a “Persian” empire, just a Caliphate controlled by clerics of Shia-Islam who subscribe to the version of Shia theology promoted by the mullahs in Iran, as opposed to a Caliphate imposed by any branch of Sunni Islam. The mullah’s in Iran systematically destroy, in Iran, anything Persian that is not also Muslim.
Keep Dreaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

‘A Turkish attempt to establish a neo-Ottoman Empire failed (none of their neighbors wanted the Turks back)’
LOL. Don’t tell it to Turks, please.
Tall

The 12’ers in charge want world chaos and war. They do not see themselves as conquerors. But rather they see themselves as the catalysts for the return of the Mahdi.
The end result is the same. We will be pumping oil through a foot of ashes on the surface.
Tall H is Ralph auto corrected on my Ipad.

More like a Shia-Sunni World War.
And FYI - Iran (Shia) is vastly outnumbered.
Written from a purely secular point of view, but with amazingly prophetic spiritual meanings.
This writer is too quick to dismiss Turkish aspirations - they are very powerful, and have gained influence with bold moves in Syria, while being ready to make a campaign for the Crimea.
I agree that there are those in Iran who want a new Persian Empire. They and Turkey might wish to carve up Iraq between them.
The problem with Turkey is that president believes he must be a Caliph in their cozy new Caliphate ISIS now fights for. Another problem is there are too many Turks, including nice educated dudes who are loathing to the idea of being a metropoly again, not to mention village idiots who loves the Anti-Western, Islamic aspect of it.
