A former employee of a Fox television station in Texas shot himself to death outside the company's New York headquarters Monday, shortly after handing out fliers saying the company had ended his career, police said.

He was pronounced dead shortly afterward at a hospital. Perea was employed as a producer at a Fox News station in Austin until June, according to Fox officials. He worked at the station FOX7-KTBC for 10 months, according to a statement from Jack Abernethy, CEO of Fox Television Stations, to employees.

Maybe the guy had mental issues that made it necessary to terminate him before there was a workplace violence issue?

The medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.

The suspense is killing me.

BZZZ!

I’m calling foul on this story.

Obvious attempt to smear FNC by linking it to the suicide of local Fox affiliate employee.

He worked in Austin, so perhaps he was a liberal. Working at Fox was too much for him to handle.

That's a real possibility.

For that same reason, I think America is safer for CNN to be on, as it is, in airports and other public places.

In his final video, which included a video from meetings with his bosses before he was fired, Perea said that “2014 was the worst year of my life.” Perea also had an ominous warning for the company, saying, “It’s time for Fox News to have the worst year of its existence.”

“Perea said that, ‘2014 was the worst year of my life.’”

Well, Um, I hate to break it to ya, but 2015 was no picnic, either!

"He worked at the station FOX7-KTBC for 10 months"

A FOX career spanning all of 10 months? And then he came all the way to NYC to off himself?

Hmmmmmm. I wonder. Is there any possibility he might have been mentally ill?[/sarc]

He must have been mentally ill to carry a gun in NYC. It may be OK in Austin, but NYC? Why the chest shot? Was he a pretty boy?

“He must have been mentally ill to carry a gun in NYC. It may be OK in Austin, but NYC?”

Kris Lew said she was preparing to open a coffee-and-food cart, the Cinnamon Snail, on 48th Street when she heard gunfire. “I thought to myself, ‘Those sound exactly like gunshots, but it can’t be, because we’re in Rockefeller Center.’”

The article says:
“He was employed at our Austin television station for ten months and has not been with the station or FTS since June 2014.

I am not sure what career issues a 41 y/o man can speak of that relate to employment that lasted only 10 months. A 20 years old continuous employment - yes, that would be something to value; but this is just a blip on the radar. This guy probably had other issues.
