A bipartisan group of six senators including Senator Marco Rubio (R., Fla.), the Gang of Eight member mulling a run for president released the first bipartisan immigration bill of the new Congress, in the form of legislation to expand high-tech visas and green cards for immigrants.
Our bill is a commonsense, bipartisan approach to help ensure that those who have come here to be educated in high-tech fields are able to stay with their families and contribute to the economy and our society, said Senate Finance Committee chairman Orrin Hatch (R., Utah), who headed up the effort. Im calling on everyone the president, members of both parties, and stakeholders in the tech community to support this bill and help make it the first step towards real immigration reform.

“Bipartisan has become a big red flag word for me.”
There’s the Stupid Party
There’s the Evil Party
Sometimes they get together and do something that is both Stupid and Evil. They call it “bipartisan”.

“in the form of legislation to expand high-tech visas and green cards for immigrants.”
I’d be more interested in a green light for a high-tech expansion of deportations.
Secure the border, send home the people who are here illegally, and then we’ll talk, m’kay? Ktthxbye!

Close the damned border FIRST, talk later.Truth is, they do not intend to do anything serious about the border.

Inclined to agree that some kind of Tech worker Solidarity is needed as wages move artificially low due to “guest” foreign workers and offshore outsourcing.
There have been previous Tech worker labor issue education efforts back in the early 2000’s. However, the movement never went anywhere because employees were afraid of being blacklisted.
Silicon Valley billionaire self-serving hypocritical progressive punks are ruining this country, and we have the best congress money can buy.

My first job after graduating with a STEM degree in 1991 was flipping burgers at McDonald’s. Then I read about Congressional support for the H1b visa program and how people like Bill Gates supported it, and for while hoped I would get a terminal illness so I would have absolutely nothing to lose.

most H1-B and offshored IT folks I've worked with suck. They falsify resumes at alarming rates and get bogus "advanced degrees" from suspect universities in third world countries.
Yet, the bean counters continue to ignore that they are not just less productive, they can reduce productivity; especially since people like me have to waste time to clean up their messes. Boondoggle and demonstrates how out of touch executives are when it comes to tech.

When can we outsource our politicians? I thought we did that in 2008?

It’s hard not to be totally cyclical and optimistic when they screw you at every opportunity. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Oh heck no! We would do better to work with our own rather abused talent pool, at least they owe allegiance to the United States of America.

I like to “imagine” the people on Capital Hill work for us.
Presently we have 92 million able bodied people out of work, and all these jackasses can do is think up new ways to bring more workers in.
To me, this is grounds to have the guy jettisoned from the building with armed guards.
Will he ever get a vote from me? Ah no...

Thats the latest iteration of the Treason Lobbys strategy of appearing to do something while really rewarding foreign nationals with amnesty. Nothing new about it, GW pulled that trick already.

Fence? How many times have we fallen for that canard?
You can tell when they are running on empty, when they still try to use this lie again.

PLEASE REMIND ALL the fence sitters you run across in regards to this issue, that ANY LAWS pertaining to illegals, THAT they MUST OBEY before becoming citizens WILL NOT BE ENFORCED. THEY ARE NOT BEING ENFORCE TODAY, THEY WILL MOST LIKELY NEVER BE ENFORCED
