"In a press release dated Dec. 30 the HHS announced that a whopping 87% of people enrolled through Healthcare.gov (5.6 million people) between Nov. 15, 2014, and Dec. 15, 2014, were getting financial assistance, also known as a subsidy."

"...the 2014-2015 enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act, best known as Obamacare, is in the books, and the enrollment figures on the surface look very encouraging."

How could that number possibly look encouraging when the ACA scam is the law and 80% of America is still choosing to ignore it?

Low-income people who signed up and will find their expected tax refund reduced as a result will NOT be pleased. Maybe REALLY NOT pleased.

Why do we need state or federal run these things called “exchages”?

I don’t buy my clothes, houses, automobiles, food, or gasoline from an “exchange.” I use this thing called a “free market” which provides for the free exchange of goods and services for money at market-clearing prices.

I assume they are counting “enrollees” as those who join through state exchanges as well?

I live in Blue New York, and I was FORCED to buy my insurance through the corrupt, crony-capitalist, progressive “Exchange.”

if the Supreme Court finds in favor of the plaintiffs, it would mean that the 5.6 million people currently receiving subsidies via Healthcare.gov, the federally run exchange, would no longer receive those payments

And should have to pay back any they have already received but don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

> very few of those enrollees currently receiving a subsidy could afford healthcare without federal assistance.

Or pay back the subsidy they have been given.

At least those insanely annoying Obamacare "we're your pets" jingles finally stopped airing out here in Calif. every five minutes. It was like living in north Korea with the state-run TV channel blaring.

This is the only way that medical care costs get spread out over a greater swath of the public, which is needed to control medical care cost inflation.

I was going to post a facepalm pic, but I don't think such exists, that merits following the above statement...

I am sure that Boehner and his crew can find some compassionate conservative funds somewhere.

>>... a potential death knell for Obamacare based on a Supreme Court case expected to be ruled on sometime in June. Plaintiffs in the case argue that the language of the ACA is structured in such a way that only states running their own exchanges can divvy out subsidies to eligible individuals. Thus, if the Supreme Court finds in favor of the plaintiffs, it would mean that the 5.6 million people currently receiving subsidies via Healthcare.gov, the federally run exchange, would no longer receive those payments.<<

Not to worry. Roberts will just rule that the regime is the state and all will be well.

At this point, anyone who trusts anybody in any part of the government to do the right thing is a fool.

the article is garbage the numbers illustrate the failure

there is no 30 million inrollment figure touted as the number of uninsured

The signees get a policy paid for with a subsidy and then go to the ER only to discover they must fork over cash because of their deductable.
