Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) called GOP challenges to Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) pretty unprofessional and very disappointing on Monday.
Cole, a close ally to Boehner, said the challenges arent serious and blasted Republicans trying to unseat the Speaker for not trying to do so when the GOP held its internal discussions late last year.
Well, I dont think theyre very serious, he said while appearing on MSNBCs Morning Joe" of the bids by Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) to challenge Boehner for speakership. And frankly, theyre pretty disappointing in the sense that anyone who wanted to run could have run in the conference elections and none of them did. So by going out and not voting for the conference choice, youre not attacking John Boehner, youre really attacking the Republican conference that you say youre part of, Cole said.
Gohmert, Yoho and other Boehner critics argue the Speaker didnt do enough to stop President Obamas executive action on immigration. Some conservatives wanted to withhold funding for the government over the order, which gave legal status to 4.5 million immigrants.
Several Republicans have joined the charge against Boehner, though it appears opponents remain short of the nearly 30 GOP votes theyd need to unseat him.
Incoming Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.) said Sunday that she expected Boehner to be elected again.
We voted in our conference in November, and
it was near unanimous, she said on CNNs State of the Union on Sunday. I think there was one weak voice that didn't say, that may have said nay. There hasn't been a campaign or any phone calls that anyone has received, so I expect that will move forward very smoothly.
Tom Cole is someone that needs to be primaried.
Agreed!
Challenges unprofessional?
No more than the unprofessional lies and deceptions of Boehner on amnesty, on the repeal of Obamacare, on budget issues, etc.

Coburn has always been a toss-up. But he, like too many, found too many new friends in DC and tends to side with the DC establishment on too many issues.
you mean like promising to block funding and repeal things and then voting to fund them?... that kind of unprofessional?
He conveniently leaves out the fact the internal vote occurred before Boehner abandoned every thing Republicans ran on in the mid-term with the cromnibus.
If you’re not a Pro, you are a Con.
Un-professional? The DC gangsters, have become professional criminals, re-inventing law to serve the all powerful USGov and those who own it, not we the people of USA.
Our nation has been co-opted by guys like this.
Tom, let me ask: Is not fighting for the voters that made your party the majority (biggest in 80 years) considered “unprofessional”?
An idiot like Cole being elected to Congress is “pretty unprofessional and very disappointing.”
Stooping so low with such an assertion, Rep. Cole, is lame and idiotic.
Boehner’s job is to represent those who put his party in power. While THAT would be the “professional” thing to do, IT IS NOT WHAT HE IS DOING!!!! Therefore, he needs to be unceremoniously booted out of his position of power.
Resign Boehner!
Good post.
Unfortunately, the chances of ousting Boehner are not very good IMHO. The GOP is what it is.
Cole needs to be fired, and Oklahoma conservatives should tell him he is in line for defeat in 2016. Wonder what skeletons are in his closet?
Boehner is NOT the choice of the people in the Republican party.
No less professional than the coup d’état Boehner participated in to force out Mr. Newt...
