A new poll out today reveals GOP opinions about Speaker of the House John Boehner.
The poll was commissioned by a group called The Peoples Poll, supervised by Pat Caddell of Caddell Associates and fielded by EMC Research.
The survey was conducted among self-identified Republicans and independents who say they lean Republican so the opinions in the poll come from the GOPers around the country, not the public-at-large.
When asked if Speaker of the House John Boehner should be re-elected only 25% say so, with a paltry 11% strongly supporting Boehner. On the other hand, almost two-thirds (60%) want someone new on the job, with 26% saying they strongly want a new Speaker of the House.
And it gets worse. Boehner isnt much trusted by his own party.
Only 13% say they strongly agree with the statement I trust House Speaker John Boehner to fight for the issues that are important to most Republicans and an additional 39% saying they somewhat agree with the statement.
Furthermore, Boehner gets weak marks for opposing Obamas agenda. Almost two-thirds agree with the statement Speaker Boehner has been ineffective in opposing President Obamas agenda. The party and its supporters are split on whether Boehner has the best interests of the American public at heart, rather than special interests which is hardly a vote of confidence moving forward with the new Congress.
Rick Manning writes over at The Hill:
Next week during the Speakers vote, if 29 Republicans decide that they will not vote for Boehner to continue as Speaker, he doesnt get to be Speaker unless he convinces a Democrat to vote for him.

As I posted in another thread a write-in vote for a conservative Republican might send an even clearer point to the not-too-bright “moderate” wing.
That is why RINOS worked so hard in Mississippi.
Only 60^? Geez, there are more stupid/lazy people than I thought!
Another ‘Keep RINOs in power no matter what’ fan heard from.
There is never a time to support the Evil Bhoner represents and enacts. If you disagree, be proud of it. No one else is.
We the people might want a different Speaker, but "Pubs" in Congress need to unfortunately watch their backs.
Same thing every two years, but yet continues to be voted in.
However drunk he may usually be, he isn't stupid. He is mounting a media campaign to convince a portion of the faithful that, "By Golly he is really tough on that rascally Obama." Of course, the MSM will be helpful to him.
He will be spouting Budget nonsense. Above all, do not underestimate the enemy. His opponents (if indeed there are any) have kept remarkably silent. And as always in the GOP, there is No Program,No Plan, No Leader, to throw the bum out.
Also be advised that to throw the bum out will personally cost the 'reformers' millions and if the coup fails, they will never be heard from again or receive a cent of RNC campaign support.
The cowards of the RINOcrat party will reelect the scum. It is what they do. Kiss Obama butt and go along with the homos-commies. Buttmer is the perfect guy for Obama’s job of running the Coward Party of Rinocrats.
That last paragraph is the crux of the matter. As Speaker he also controls the Committee seats, which means the state pork rolls.
All the reason we need to squeeze our Congressmen - politely of course.
Boehner fits perfectly with the GOP, a weak party devoid of any convictions.
Possible- but not necessarily so obvious. Remember, their first loyalty is to the beltway, but they do listen to voters for fear of rejection. Eric Cantor is a good example. But, unfortunately retribution doesn’t come immediately.
I don't think Boehner would have any problem getting a Democrat to vote for him. The Democrat leadership would probably make sure that it happens.
I'm a Benedict Arnold fan, and we and those then known to be American "Rebels" can thank him for his disobeying orders to stay in command headquarters atop a hill ... and leading the final American "Charge !!!" to win the Revolutionary war.
History tells us that it was the post-war American Congress that financially stabbed Arnold in the back and caused him to change sides.
And now, established Republicans are pathetically stabbing Sarah Palin in the back.
Sarah needs our support to get things fixed in America.
The simple answer to your question is never as it relates to the issue under discussion: The Speaker of the House. In our original Constitution, the only members of government to be directly related were members of the House of Representatives. The Office of Speaker has always been chosen by the members themselves in a manner of their choosing.
The other thing to consider is that the newly elected members of both the House and the Senate have yet to cast a single vote in either chamber. Their first opportunity will come next week.
Boehner or any of these people from now on will make it a point to not resign or be told what to do. They want to set a precedent that they are untouchable an above law or opinions of others. They want the populace to fear them and fear government and authority. This is par for the course if one understands dictatorships and authoritarian governments and their modus operandi. I fail to see why conservatives offer a multitude of divergent explanations. Many actions of GOP and our government/media uniparty can be understood if we look at them through the lenses of for example Solzenitzyn’s take on the Soviet Union combined with Hegelian theory. Obviously things are more complicated and nuanced but I think many people are willfully in denial or naively oblivious to the state of affairs and the treason and evil of people in power who represent the great USA.
I worked for a candidate for state house who campaigned as a reformer. He pulled no punches in speaking out against government abuse and insider injustices at the capitol. He won election. But, when he got there for freshman orientation, the leader of his own party took him aside and told him in no uncertain terms that he would fall in line and vote as told or they would ruin him and any future he may have in politics.
It ain't as easy being a Ted Cruz or Michele Bachmann as us folks on the outside think it could be.
