Anyone else spending Christmas Eve alone?

Hello all. Sitting here at home and wondering if anyone else out there is spending this evening alone.

On this night of all nights when families gather and friends share gifts and time, some of us are, for various reasons, spending Christmas Eve solo.

Not necessarily a bad thing - alone doesn't always mean lonely. But, it does mean alone.

Check in if that includes any of you, my fellow Freepers.

Is there a Salvation Army church near you? If there is, go and stop by. Is there a VA hospital near you? Do the same. You don’t have to be alone. If you’re on FR you’re not alone. Merry Christmas.

Spending Christmas Day alone in Japan . Wife is working and daughter , who is a teacher in Kumamoto City and liveds there , won’t be coming coming home until the 29th for the New Year holiday . Oh - the dog - Milo the Boston Terrier is here - how could I forget him ? Not alone after all ! And there is the bottle of sake ( sakay ) waiting to be quaffed !

Yes, alone. What little of my family that is left is not close enough to visit. Difficulty day, as so much regular daily stuff shuts down. As a musician. I’m totally burnt out on Christmas carols, and all the local stations don’t carry anything else. Not a good day for me!

Nothing wrong with that. You can choose to be or you can choose not to be. Been invited to dinner but I am not going. I am not afraid of loneliness.

Spending a few hours alone right now, but will be heading out to midnight Mass in a little while. It's a traditional Latin Mass, and one of my time-honored tradition is taking a detour through a very pretty neighborhood where every home has a string of luminaries lined up along the street on Christmas Eve. It's a spectacular sight to see. The photo below isn't from the same town, but you get the idea!

I’ve been working so much lately that the DVR is full. I’ve been wanting a night to catch it up.

Almost all of my loved ones have passed on, so I’m by myself, but I have my little calico cat with me.

You never really get used to it, but there does cone to a point where you become comfortable with it.
