Trey Gowdy argues that Obama is completely wrong on immigration and that he is definitely abusing the idea of prosecutorial discretion. But when it comes to doing something about it, he says that the president wants the ratings of Congress to be as low as his and that they shouldnt take the bait and shut the government down.
Why bother deporting them?
They can just walk right back across the border.
” If George Bush (and the republicans) had kept his promise to build a fence and shut down illegal border crossings the nature of the debate today would be entirely different.”
“Instead attention and money were intentionally diverted from a solid concrete fence to the failed “Virtual Fence” technology.”
“And when the adminitration’s time was up and the money was spent the border remained open, handing Barack Obama a still festering sore he could exploit.”
and that was done with the full knowledge that the illegal alien cancer would get worse. The Bush GOP has been every bit as bad on amnesty as Obama. And now the worst of a bad lot, Jeb, is a GOPe favorite to succeed Obama.
I like Trey, but I'm a bit disappointed by his comments. Notice he never mentioned repealing the law, he only said we have to be careful that something like this does not happen again.
WHAT!?!?!? .
Prohibition, an amendment to our Constitution, was repealed, and the best Goudy can do is say that we can't let this happen again. .
The fix is in...it's gonna be a very tough road to get Obamacare repealed, and I'm sorry to say that it's because we don't enough Republicans that want to repeal it. .
This is the second Obama Signature issue that Trey Gowdy is very angry about, but that he is not willing to do anything about. I like Trey, but my doubts about him are growing.
“Why bother deporting them? They can just walk right back across the border.”
That reminds me of a big complaint heard during one of the brief episodes when we tightened the border.
It seems that we inconvenienced Mexico’s illegals who had gotten used to crossing back and forth at will. They all had gone home for Christmas and they were very irritated when they couldn’t just waltz back into the US without papers. The Chamber of Commerce, Mexico’s agent in Washington DC, had to remind the GOP who owns them.
I disagree. The only thing that save the GOP after the shutdown was the role out of Obamacare and the fees. Then there were all of the foreign affairs issues. When it came to the “partial” shutdown both parties lost but the GOP lost much, much bigger than the Rats. That is why I agree with Charles K. and Gowdy on this point. Like why touch the hot burner on the oven again when the last two times you got burned! Just saying ...
it just hit us here in CT. The emergency of Pelosi rule is over. Scott Brown became #41 and Pelosi got removed one year late in Jan 2011 ...
No longer an emergency to elect RINOs. Let the RINOs do the RINO work. Name some names and point the way!
I ain’t going to Dubuque.
We LOST? LOL Is that you, Rove?
Want on or off this ping list of 50+ (and growing) FReepers? Just drop me a FReep mail.
Yeah because the election following the last shutdown simply decimated republicans.
Been telling you that our South Carolina congressman have been sucking at the Chamber’s t*t...
It doe not matter whose idea it is, or, who is propagating the false narrative that government shutdown is very bad. What really matters is that the 80% low information voters already believe it will be republicans to blame for any shutdown.
To win in 2016, republicans do not need government shutdown. All they need to do is keep the immigration issue alive, and in the news. Even the low information voters are against illegals flooding in and taking their jobs.
If the rats win White House in 2016, nothing good will happen on immigration or Obamacare. Front and center for republicans the goal should be to win White House. The employer mandate takes place at end of 2015. That will be a plus for GOP in 2016 presidential elections.
It tanked the polls for GOP congress. What helped in 2014 mid-terms the most was the TV pictures of illegal children flooding in, IMO. Also helped increasing unpopularity of Obamacare as more people are finding out how it has affected them.
When the employer mandate goes into effect next year, that can only help republicans in 2016.
Wait a minute, what happened with that? Didn't they start the fence, then Nazi and the RATs took over Congress in 2006 and defunded it?
Homeland Security will be shut down in February or March. Whats the rush?
Watch Gowdy here for better understanding....I think he knows how to handle them...and he does...
He said that we need to work on security first immigration/border bills..... Ya that will happen about NEVER!!.......MY BET IS THE ILLEGALS WILL ALL BECOME CITIZENS BEFORE THAT HAPPENS!!!
Oh - it was started alright.
But it was clear from the get-go that it was only because of public outcry and there was really n interest in actually building a basic, concrete and wire fence.
Much of the money allocated for a real border fence was wasted on an electronic "virtual fence" that never worked.
Homeland Security Cancels Virtual Fence After $1 Billion Is Spent
I heard someone this morning make a comment that the greatest tool at the republicans’ disposal for campaigning towards 2016 is the IRS. The billions wasted, the targeting of conservative organizations, the phony health care scam that we all got Grubered on, among other things set the stage for some long needed governmental and personnel changes that can be accomplished because regardless of politics almost NO ONE likes the IRS.
They should take all the illegals who have committed crimes out of prison and put them to work finishing the fence. Then, deposit them on the other side when they’re done.
