David Ruenzel knew, better than most, about the white privilege that killed him.
As a writer for the Southern Poverty Law Center, one of this favorite topics was rooting out racism. And how white racism is permanent. White racism is everywhere. And white racism explains everything.
This mantra of the Critical Race Theory and the Southern Poverty Law Center applied to all white people because, even if they were not personally cracking the whips, or breaking the skulls, white people benefitted from a racist system that did all that — and a lot more.
Ruenzel was writing about white privilege for the Southern Poverty Law Center as far back as 1997 — long before it became the rage at college campuses, newsrooms, churches, high schools and even grade schools.
By the time of his death, Ruenzel had accumulated many of the trappings of the white privilege he exposed: The job. The home. The intact family. And most importantly in his case, white privilege endowed Ruenzel with an expectation of safety in the Oakland neighborhood where last week two black people are suspected of killing him.

I don’t think it’s overstating it to recognise that in the modern world, it’s a very important factor. When it’s lacking, the only thing which comes close to making up for that lack, even in a bad way, is superior brute force.
His cohorts will not be deterred by this but rather encouraged. His black attackers (alleged of course) were driven to their dastardly deeds by yesteryears slaveholders and KKK.
That might actually be a safety buffer, by the side effects of intense foolishness limiting the cleverness that can be put to evil uses.
It is a tool that can be put to the use of blessing.
Wrongly used, it can become the vehicle of curses.

Watch, once more, for the fallacious conclusion that being intellectually bright equates to being wise. It may be the shovel that digs that much deeper a hole to fall into.
I wish they could realize that this maltreatment came from Democrats, and shape their politics accordingly.
Even past-Dixiecrat Republicans generally DID (in spite of the urban legend) support generic civil rights legislation. There was one who didn’t: Al Gore’s father.

White racism is everywhere because blacks carry it with them everywhere and project it onto everybody even when it’s not there. They project it into their kids who’ve never experienced it. They project it into whites who’d never consider it. They do to everybody what was done to them. And you don’t have to have a first hand racist experience to suffer trauma. Another person’s trauma can become yours just by listening to them tell their story.
I think even Neanderthals must have had an IQ above 85 to survive, although they did die out so maybe 90 was their max. Sorry for the rambling...
God forgive me for the chuckle and feeling of “serves him right” satisfaction that headline triggered. That was Satan, I’m sure. Prayers for the comforting of his family.
And thousands of whites in the early 1860s had the "privilege" of dying that the black man might be free.

To pile irony upon irony, Cosby spent probably the last 12 years talking about this very thing. Pull your pants up, go to school, and stop bullying black kids who are doing well in school.
Cosby’s been kneecapped of late. Not sure how much truth there is to any of it. I can show you a bunch of Duke lacrosse players who will tell you the joys of being tried in the court of public opinion. Talk about Alinsky at work.
