Dr. Ben Carson, author of "One Nation: What We Can All Do to Save America's Future," argued that while Officer Darren Wilson did nothing wrong in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, police should be better trained in non-lethal force such as shooting aggressors in the legs on Tuesday's "Hugh Hewitt Show."
>snip<
He specified "for instance, in a lot of places, police officers arent even allowed to go into the more dangerous areas by themselves. Theyre always paired. Or you know, people use tasers, people learn how to shoot people in the legs to stop them from charging, things of that nature. And I seriously doubt that hed been given that information."

Sorry this nice man should have kept his day job. The more he pontificates about domestic and world events the more ignorance he shows. This guy is going nowhere.
That would increase the probability of bystanders getting killed. And of the policeman getting killed.
And it would increase the probability the perp would run free to harm someone else.
I’ve always been more in favor of a head shot if your shooting for a small target. If the thug attacks you, the thug should die.
Jimmy Carter was a nice guy, too.
Cops can’t even hit the broad side of a barn, lots of times, and you want them to aim for skinny, moving, LEGS??????
Truer words never spoken.
I assure you, he’s not just “reasonably intelligent”. He’s blindingly brilliant, in a book smart kind of way.
Too bad.
And trucks that pull out in front of cops’ cars with sirens blaring and then they stop!
With every new statement Dr. Carson is going downhill
This is a perfect example of speaking firmly and confidently in an area where he clearly has no expertise.
Not a good quality in a leadership role.
When your gun is drawn and you start to shoot as an afficer you are already past the life/death decision, and you must shoot for the biggest target, the center of mass- not smaller targets where it would be easier to miss.
People who say “shoot his legs” or “shoot the gun out of his hand” are watching way too much TV. Some good Sheriff’s should get ahold of the good Dr. and have a word with him (he DOES seem reasonable)

Center mass all day long baby, all day long
Yeah. Let’s make this guy President.
I would say naive. Did he see the shot pattern from the autopsy?
Many of law enforcement commentators after the 1987 North Hollywood shootout mentioned that had officers at least tried to shoot the legs of the assailants, they would’ve been stopped sooner. When you’re firing 9mm against torso body armor, sometimes the legs are your only hope to slow them down.
That being said, I think Dr. Carson would be an exemplary candidate for President despite this remark. Remember, our Founders intended to have our representatives be from our communities. Dr. Carson may not be an expert on all things, but he’s got a better mind for the office than any political hack would.
LOL!
Don’t forget, the good doctor is a gun grabber. In one interview he stated that cities should be gun free zones (Except for cops) and in another he walked that back a bit, but then endorsed “smart” gun tech.
I hear it’s a growth industry.
I just posted some comments to Carson’s campaign site that he shouldn’t be so ignorant about guns and gun issues. I am not a Carson Kool-aid drinker, but he could add some excitement and attract attention to the Rep. presidential campaign.
Also loved the “The Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries”. #23. The company mess and friendly fire should be easier to tell apart.
Must have eaten in my kitchen!
Another reason he is a good man and an inspiration but should never be president...
