Dr. Ben Carson, author of "One Nation: What We Can All Do to Save America's Future," argued that while Officer Darren Wilson did nothing wrong in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, police should be better trained in non-lethal force such as shooting aggressors in the legs on Tuesday's "Hugh Hewitt Show."
>snip<
He specified "for instance, in a lot of places, police officers arent even allowed to go into the more dangerous areas by themselves. Theyre always paired. Or you know, people use tasers, people learn how to shoot people in the legs to stop them from charging, things of that nature. And I seriously doubt that hed been given that information."

He'll be deciding he's a Democrat before this is all over.
“This is just another on a list of anti-Second Amendment statements Carson has been making of late.”
Yeah, while Carson has a lot of good thoughts, he doesn’t have the stones for national politics. Also, his comment, “shoot for the legs” show his lack of understanding of police roles and responsibilities. Police are trained with the mantra “don’t pull your gun unless you feel the need to use it and if you pull it shoot to kill”.
Boom!!! Headshot!!!
Dr Carson should go back to being a doctor. He's not POTUS material nor for that matter even congressional material. He seems to have some very naive ideas which he obviously has not fully reasoned out or if he has reasoned out came to factually & inaccurate conclusions. If you want to aim for non fatal {in most cases} areas then shoot in the groin region at least you stand a far better chance of hitting mass. But again the idea is to take the person out thus ending the threat. It's simply best to aim for mass.
My guess was that Wilson was seeing double, and shooting the wrong one. As they got closer, the images converged, the shots hit the midline, just higher up.
I really hope that FReepers are finally over this guy. He’s got good qualities, and I’m sure he’s a good man, but he’s not presidential material.
He doesn’t know about the femoral artery?
He’s not smart, he’s educated and skilled. There is a big difference.
Educated to be a doctor, skilled at doing so, but smart would include common sense, which he lacks.
Smart people don’t prattle on about things they have no knowledge of, they ask questions and use logic.
Someone posted a police training video here, showing, that in a shoot out, you have like around two seconds to react and usually you’ll be lucky hit the target at all let alone the legs.
Makes no sense
A Presidential candidate must be "likeable" and appeal to the low-information voter. He's not "out" from my consideration, but he'd better get some advisors.
And people keep touting him for the Republican presidential nomination? I just don’t see the attraction.
Always mystifies me when FReepers immediately want to make a presidential candidate of a new face on the basis of a single speech.
The whispering doctor should concern himself more with the character flaws of the Gentile Giants and aspiring rap artists than wishing for Hollywood trick shooting from local PD.
Still trying to find his statement on the dangers choking out small folks who object to being robbed. Crushed hyoid bones, compression of carotid arteries, the medical factors, you know. Oh, and let’s add sucker punching white people with the intent of inflicting maximum to the brain, that being the principal area of his expertise.
Anybody who finds evidence of Carsons comments on such please ping me as I’d just love to read them.
I mistrust people unable to acknowledge real world dangers while punching the daylights out of straw men.
Ever notice how so many ‘aspiring’ rap artists turn into ‘expiring’ rap artists?
Here’s one...
Or the guy standing on a ladder painting.
lol - yes, because if someone is charging me to kill me, I’m going to stop and try and take aim at two skinny, quickly moving poles rather than one big killer body.
Methinks the good doctor should spend some time at the range before making irresponsible suggestions.
Ahhh...sorry...old habit die hard. ;D
“For such a smart guy Dr. Carson is remarkably stupid.”
******
Dr. Carson is also a member of the Seventh Day Adventist cult. If you thought Romney was pilloried for being LDS, wait until Carson’s campaign kicks into gear.
SDA tenets derived from a 19th Century prophetess (plagiarist) who had visions and performed the “miracle” of holding a large Bible for hours after getting hit in the face with a rock as a child.
