(CNN) -- A missing Ohio State University football player has been found dead, authorities said Sunday.

Kosta Karageorge, a fifth-year senior, had missed practice Wednesday and hadn't been seen since.

Sgt. Richard Weiner, with Columbus police, said that Karageorge died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

His body was found inside a Dumpster and identified at the scene through tattoos, Weiner said.

A handgun was also recovered at the scene.

It was not immediately clear how long the body had been in the Dumpster, Weiner said. An investigation is ongoing.

Such a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Sorry to hear this.

Because only the most brain dead kooks would doubt someone would climb into a dumpster to shoot themselves.

The really smart people know how common that is.

To a person in such a state, the problems don’t seem temporary. They are not thinking rationally, and rational arguments don’t help them. All you can do is (hopefully) forestall any rash acts, and once the immediate crisis is over, get them help.

He probably considered suicide to be a shameful thing and tried to do it in such a way that no one would ever know what happened to him, much less know that he had committed suicide.

Not just younger people. Suicidal tendencies can be present in anyone regardless of age, physical health, socio-economic status, you name it.

I went round and round about this with Freepers when Robin Williams committed suicide. The brains in the clinically depressed don't think about better solutions to their problems or what their death will do to their loved ones. All they see is an insurmountable problem and the brain is telling them to take this way out.

If you've never been depressed or knew anyone who was, you don't understand these things.

Minimal clean-up and home furnishings spoilage. He hated those “clean-up on aisle 11” messages over the intercom?

Perhaps he was on one or more anti-depressants which list SUICIDE as a possible side effect.

Nawwww, no way it could be that. (sarc)

I read a day or two ago on a football site that he was experiencing "girlfriend troubles."

Heartbreak kills.

Sad to say, it really does.

I don’t know. That might be in some ways the “thoughtful” way of doing it. No mess, and if he had done it on garbage night, perhaps nobody would have ever seen or known of the gruesome act.

Of course, not thinking far enough ahead that such an end would also leave the lack of “closure” of his parents and loved ones.

Definite foul play.
Conveniently climbed in a dumpster and shot himself?
Not buying it!

dunno. if he was depressed or acting weird around the time people saw him last, maybe. if not there could be a lot more to it.

...

Depressed people who have decided to end it all can appear happy.

“Not buying it!”

At this time, I am buying it. Extremely depressed, and with head injuries. Quite possible.
