Johnny Cash - Thanksgiving Prayer
We've come to the time in the season When family and friends gather near To offer a prayer of Thanksgiving For blessings we've known through the year To join hands and thank the creator And now when Thanksgiving is due This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you
I'm grateful for the laughter of children The sun and the wind and the rain The color of blue in your sweet eyes The sight of a high ball and train The moon rise over a prairie Old love that you've made new This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you
And when the time comes to be going It won't be in sorrow and tear I'll kiss you goodbye and I'll go on my way Grateful for all of the years I thank for all that you gave me For teaching me what love can do Thanksgiving day for the rest of my life I'm thanking the Lord He made you Thanksgiving day for the rest of my life I'm thanking the Lord He made you

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Thanksgiving Song
Grateful for each hand we hold Gathered round this table. From far and near we travel home, Blessed that we are able.
Grateful for this sheltered place With light in every window, Saying "welcome, welcome, share this feast Come in away from sorrow."
Father, mother, daughter, son, Neighbor, friend and friendless; All together everyone in the gift of loving-kindness.
Grateful for what's understood, And all that is forgiven; We try so hard to be good, To lead a life worth living.
Father, mother, daughter, son, Neighbor, friend, and friendless; All together everyone, let grateful days be endless.
Grateful for each hand we hold Gathered round this table.

Greetings on Black Friday Morning, Folks!
Thanksgiving at Casa de Cuckoo went off quite well. It took all four of us to get the feast done (which didn’t kick off until almost 7:30 at night, with all the food prep).
The night before, The Bride taught Jailbait how to make her first pumpkin pie.
Sarge and The Bride had to make an emergency run to the store around noon for 11th-hour stuff, while Brainiac and Jailbait did the prep work. The Bride experimented with a new turkey method: chop the bird into five pieces, crush the breastbone flat, and it reduces the cook time to less than two hours. IT WORKED.
There’s a fire in the hearth almost constantly now, to stave off the damp chill here. Fergus the Wonder Puppy sits by me at fireside, as do the cats who trade off the choice spot closest to the brick.
Dulcimer on my lap, and a pint in my fist...
Singing Silly Wizard by the fireside...
Two years married, three years from the homeless shelter...
...and I realize suddenly, I have a lot to be thankful for.
Hope y’all’s was as good!

Happy FRiday Beachie!
You out shopping today? Not me, just going to hang out with friends and family and eat some more, lol.
I'm heading back to home tomorrow and then get ready for December.
Have a great day!

Good morning all and Happy (after) Thanksgiving.
I hope y’all had a wonderful and peaceful family gathering.
We did in my neck of the woods. Weather was crappy, food good, and the traffic not bad.
My mother (a surprise for her) and I were able to enjoy the day with my oldest son and his family, who came to join us in feast and gossip. Thus, my mother was able to see most of the grandkids and great-grandkids yesterday (I don’t think my Pop cares one way or the other LOL).
Today is cold, but sun shining against a bright blue sky where the clouds have gone out of town with the storm.
I’m home today and doing chores so I can relax for the whole weekend before trudging (metaphorically speaking) back to work.
Wishing everyone a Happy FRiday and a wonderful weekend. Stay safe if you’re traveling.

Good morning Pro ((HUGS))
Happy FRiday to you.
Nope, not out shopping; I ran to the P.O. to check mailbox, which I hadn’t in a week (?) and was looking for a breakfast sandwich so I didn’t have to cook, but on my end of town everything was closed, which is good for some but bad for my tummy. LOL
So, you are going to enjoy one more day with family and friends and leftovers, hey?
Have a safe journey home and I’ll see you on Monday.

This is the Arabic character "nun" the first letter of the word "Nazarene." I post it as my avatar in solidarity with people of all faiths suffering persecution at the hands of Islam. Many of them are members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, dating from the days of the Apostles. They endure cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors they, and we, are all "Nazarenes." |
