Greetings on Black Friday Morning, Folks!
Thanksgiving at Casa de Cuckoo went off quite well. It took all four of us to get the feast done (which didn’t kick off until almost 7:30 at night, with all the food prep).
The night before, The Bride taught Jailbait how to make her first pumpkin pie.
Sarge and The Bride had to make an emergency run to the store around noon for 11th-hour stuff, while Brainiac and Jailbait did the prep work. The Bride experimented with a new turkey method: chop the bird into five pieces, crush the breastbone flat, and it reduces the cook time to less than two hours. IT WORKED.
There’s a fire in the hearth almost constantly now, to stave off the damp chill here. Fergus the Wonder Puppy sits by me at fireside, as do the cats who trade off the choice spot closest to the brick.
Dulcimer on my lap, and a pint in my fist...
Singing Silly Wizard by the fireside...
Two years married, three years from the homeless shelter...
...and I realize suddenly, I have a lot to be thankful for.
Hope y’all’s was as good!
Good mornin’, Sarge! ((((hugs))))
Sounds like a lovely day for you and your bride! The fire sounds wonderful!
