Almost no one will dispute that when a baby is born, breast milk is the best nutrition a mother can provide. All mammals nurse their young, and breast milk benefits a newborn infant in ways above and beyond nutrition.
...
More and more evidence is surfacing, however, that milk consumption may not only be unhelpful, it might also be detrimental.
...
But if you believe the advertising of the dairy industry, and the recommendations of many scientific bodies, they are missing out on some fantastic benefits to milk consumption: that milk is good for bones, contains calcium and vitamin D, and does a body good.
Theres not a lot of evidence for these types of claims. In 2011, The Journal of Bone and Mineral Research published a meta-analysis examining whether milk consumption might protect against hip fracture in middle-aged and older adults. Six studies containing almost 200,000 women could find no association between drinking milk and lower rates of fractures.
More recent research confirms these findings. A study published in JAMA Pediatrics this year followed almost 100,000 men and women for more than two decades. Subjects were asked to report on how much milk they had consumed as teenagers, and then they were followed to see if that was associated with a reduced chance of hip fractures later in life. It wasnt.
A just-released study in The BMJ that followed more than 45,000 men and 61,000 women in Sweden age 39 and older had similar results. Milk consumption as adults was associated with no protection for men, and an increased risk of fractures in women. It was also associated with an increased risk of death in both sexes.

my heart Dr told me one simple rule to go by...
If it taste good spit it out
I always considered milk a children's beverage anyhow. Once you get to a certain age, it's time to put away the milk and soda pop and switch to beer and wine. Or coffee and tea if you can't handle alcohol.
Yes, D3 and K2
I have a friend who has osteoporosis. She started taking K2 with her calcium and had a huge increase in her bone density. Over 10% in one year. She had never had an increase before.

Bottom line: beware of this guy’s advice.
Have you tried Chocolate-flavor Silk its not too bad
I do take a time-release magnesium, which I started for a bogus reason that I won’t mention lol — but decided to keep taking it after reading information like yours.
Utter BS. God says that Canaan was a place “flowing with milk and honey”. God doesn’t suggest that people consume things that are bad for them. Read the Bible to discover the good things that He tells us to eat.
He didn’t conduct the studies as you know.
Thanks..in my case I really dont worry about calories but only the fat in my arteries...skim milk is actually fat free, or so they tell me.
They tell me there are 2 kinds of fat, the fat that makes us heavy and the fat in our arteries...my problem is only the fat in my arteries...more than you wanted to know
Are you talking about Silk?? I started drinking that a few months ago and I flat LOVE it.
I still like milk, but the almond stuff is now my favorite!!
No, but it sounds worth a try, thanks.
Now I know why my father was taken so young at age 93. He drank 3 gallons of milk every week.
the theory goes that milk and calcium intake are extremely important especially for women but it must be done as a young person...once you hit your later 20’s the calcium does not do much good since your bones are pretty much set.....
For some of us, the downside to fat free milk is that it has considerably more carbohydrates than whole milk (and even more still compared to heavy whipping cream).
I'm on long-term Prilosec which creates the problem of calcium not being absorbed due to lack of acid. So I take calcium citrate which should be absorbed anyway. But a lot of guesswork here.
Good for you!
It takes time for the levels of magnesium to get back up there. And there is little, well let me say damn, damn, damn few problems with an overdose.
Still love to dunk graham crackers.
And a bowl of cereal and milk as a nighttime snack just relaxes my body and soul at the end of the day.
Got to have cheese!
