Its as if the November 4 elections never occurred.
Today, the new House membership met in a private conclave and reelected every one of their top leaders by voice vote. This includes John Boehner (R-OH) as Speaker, Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as Majority Leader, Steve Scalise (R-LA) as Majority Whip, and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) as Conference Chair.
At a time of one of the worst constitutional crises in our nations history, when the president is threatening to imminently remake our society with immigration amnesty a policy over which Congress holds absolute power Republican leadership elections lacked any debate on strategy to stop this crisis. None of these people had to provide a platform or a commitment as to how they will deal with this dangerously imperial president. None of them had to make commitments to defund any and all lawless activity. They were all reelected by voice vote.
Even Saddam Hussein used to garner only 99% of the vote, but leadership did not want to conduct a traditional ballot in order to preclude members from voting present or writing in a different name.
We are in the midst of a severe constitutional crisis, with the president threatening to erase our borders and remake the country through illegal immigration, yet Boehner has already given in to Obamas extortion by talking about the need for immigration deformity. With the upcoming budget bill being the last remaining check on Obamas power, Boehner, McCarthy and their GOP leadership lieutenants are whipping support for long-term funding for everything Obama is requesting. Yet, today, there was no opposition at a time when Republicans could have made bold promises to one another.
Just hours before winning reelection to his speakership, Breitbart reported that Boehner said the following to Obama about paying his ransom on immigration:
After a White House meeting last week, Republicans described Speaker John Boehner aggressively confronting President Obama over the president's planned executive amnesty, prompting an extended period of a defensive Obama attempting to justify his actions. But a key moment of the meeting, left out from those accounts, was unveiled by Boehner himself in an exuberant moment of boasting in a closed-door meeting with GOP colleagues minutes ago. Boehner recalled telling Obama, Mr. President, just give us one more chance to do this the right way. If we can't, then do what you gotta do. So Boehner is telling Obama that he will have the green light to pass amnesty, but asked for permission to try one more time to pass it legislatively? I have this quote mentioned by Breitbart confirmed by several people in the room when Boehner said it.
Read that again. Boehner told the GOP conference behind closed doors that he told Obama he has the green light to shred our constitution and destroy our sovereignty if Republicans dont do it through regular order. And then he was reelected Speaker just hours later!
This fight is not over, not by a long shot.
If Boehner ultimately follows through with this promise and either submits an amnesty bill or declines to defund Obamas impending amnesty through the budget bill, House conservatives must fight Boehners Speaker nomination on the floor in January.
We all understand that the lonely few dozen conservatives feel powerless to stop Boehner. But just 30 members can block Boehner from winning 218 votes on the House floor. Those who are concerned about creating chaos on the House floor should focus on the chaos Obama and Boehner are creating for our future of our country by allowing this lawlessness to continue.
Game on. Conservatives will be watching.
"If we can't, then do what you gotta do.
Boehner likes amnesty AND Boehner likes Obama's end run around Congress.
Boehner is as lawless as Obama.
In addition to being well spoken, she is an eye-pleaser, too.
A very attractive woman.
when the planet finally implodes, crosses the event horizon into black hole, collides with a comet, or is simply blown up by it’s inhabitants, the last noise it utters to the universe before it winks out of existence will be from this web site, and it will be, “see? told you so”.
SITYS.
When you run on nothing, you can get away with anything.
Regarding the referenced article, Im glad that some conservative writers arent trumpeting the false sense of accomplishment that many patriots undoubtedly experienced when RINOs won the House in 2010.
What patriots arguably won earlier this month is a tad more transparency from corrupt Congress.
Note that if patriots had secured 2/3 majority control of the Senate in the three election cycles since 2010 that Obama would be looking at being impeached out of office in January. But still not having a 2/3 Senate majority to impeach a corrupt president out of office after the last election is an excellent example why the ill-conceived 17th Amendment was such a bad idea.
Are they smarter than the new people - or just more susceptible to bullying and threats from the Old Bulls?
Neither will you party hacks and GOP Ruling Class Sycophants stop castigating Conservatives who realize the GOP is nothing but an enabling arm of an oligarchy.
Your ilk threatened and insulted Conservatives, demanding they vote for RINOs earlier this month, or be declared supporters of Obama.
Then when the GOP Leadership tells us they are surrendering the power of the purse and are making back room deals for Amnesty that "It's too early to criticize".
Then when Amnesty is a done deal, ObamaCare is untouched and made impervious to any action against it, you will tell us that this is so because your party does not have the Presidency.
Then your ilk will shove Jeb and Christie and Romney down our throats and demand we vote for them or be declared supporters of Hillary and the whole corrupt charade of the Oligarchy continues. Brought to us by folks like yourself who continually insist that the GOP is our salvation, when they are nothing but Judenrats and enablers of the Fascist Oligarchy now ruling us.
The Republican party is as complicit in the Obama Dictatorship and tyranny now being established as the Democrat party is. The fruits are self-evident, yet you will continue to insist that we Conservatives are the "problem" for daring to criticize the GOP Establishment for what they are.
Why is the Lame Duck GOP leadership in the current Congress going to vote for an omnibus spending bill FOR AN ENTIRE FISCAL YEAR and fund Obamas entire agenda so as to remove any possibility of the new Congress having the power of the purse???
The answer to that question will answer yours also.
and they will keep doing it too
you know precisely dick about me. so, give it a rest, you self righteous, absolutist jagoff.
“The LEADERSHIP ELECTION is in JANUARY. “
Yeas, but apparently it’s more fun to pretend otherwise.
Actually I don’t think even the general media want it known that Boehner is in a pickle because of the upcoming election for Speaker.
The SSA is waiving work requirements for people over 50 who can’t work, making it EASIER to get APPROVED for up to $2,642/mo in Disability Benefits!
- From a facebook ad.
you need to ask yourself you are more butt hurt than you would have been if democrats had run the table two weeks ago, instead of the republicans. you need to ponder that one for a bit.
I didn’t think anything would change but there were/are many on here who did and still do.
Yep. And the only ones who will benefit is the amnesty pimps and
The crony capitalist.
Your ridicule, condescension and commentary about Conservatives and their negative views of the GOP leadership reveals plenty about you.
The 'self righteous absolutist jag-off' comment more than gave you away.
The 'self righteous absolutist jag-off' comment more than gave you away.
I simply think that we should give the leadership the opportunity to actually f*ck up before we line them up against the wall and shoot them.
you, and, to borrow your word, "your ilk", are entirely too overwrought. that's the part I can't figure out; we won. they lost. BIG. and some people really seem to be pissed off about that. it just doesn't make much sense.
Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.[Posted on 01/31/2013 5:08:50 PM PST by xzins]
Conservatives win big and are already ready to whine about losing!
