On Tuesday, Oregon voters rejected an initiative (Measure 88) to give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants even after the proponents for the licenses outspent opponents by more than ten to one.
The vote was not even close, as Oregon news outlets called the race right after polls closed.
With 80% of the votes in, nearly 70% (66.7%) of Oregon voters rejected the measure, while 32.5% approved. Last month, 61% of likely voters in Oregon said they were opposed to the measure, with 53% of those voters saying they were certain to vote against it.
According to KGW, the drivers license would allow illegal immigrants to drive in the state for four years. Illegal immigrants who had lived in the state for at least a year would have been eligible.
After Oregon Governor John Kitzahber (D) signed the law that approved drivers licenses for illegal immigrants in 2013, the Protect Oregon Driver Licenses group formed and gathered the required number of signatures to refer the issue to the ballot.

A majority of voters? Meh! One judge will flush the will of the people in a pen stroke.
||||||||||||The measure was agreed upon by most politicians in the Legislature: Democrats and Republicans from rural-agricultural, suburban, and urban areas all supported it. But, even in heavily Democratic Multnomah County, it failed two-to-one.
More than $600,000 was invested in the yes side, while under $100,000 was invested in the no side.|||||||||||||||||
******** So those rejecting drivers licenses for illegals were outspent by 6 to 1 ratio
Some Oregonians still have brain cells functioning
More Oregon election commentary:
Yesterday, his states voters rejected a bill to provide drivers licenses to illegals it lost by a margin of 68 to 32, with more votes cast against it than were cast in favor of any candidate. It lost big in Democratic areas and lost in Republican areas.

****************** Democrats voted against this too
That’s terrible. ..
/s (like that’s even necessary)
This means that the GOPe’s Illegal Alien Amnesty is totally supported by Americans.
Again Oregon voters show their disconnect from who they put in office. This bill to allow illegals to be licensed was the governors brain child. The corrupt governor was re-elected on the same ballot.
Quick, find a Fed Judge — This large vote margin is prima facie evidence it is unconstitutional.
License? We don't need no stinkin' license ...
If Oregon can do this, why can’t every other state follow suit?

Is there an accounting for the # of hit-and-runs lately?
Thanks, friend. Unfortunately we were not able to oust the governor or stop the approval of marijuana.
They may not be smart enough to pump their own gas but they did have enough brain cells to figure this out. Way to go!!
Doubt it - they don’t all make it into print; we don’t see them all; and “hit and run by illegals” is probably not a statistic collected by the DOJ Bureau of Justice Statistics.
Doesn’t matter what voters vote on state issues anymore. A blackrobe oligarch can come along and say “equal opportunity” or some other nonsense gobbledygook and overrule a vote of the people.
Why is that unfortunate?
