God Save Us from the Loud 'I'm Staying Home This Year' Conservatives

By Jim Geraghty

A few thoughts from the middle of the day . . .

God save us from self-professed "conservatives" who will announce they'll stay home on Election Day as a demonstration of their power.

Because as we all know, you become more influential in politics and government and public life by staying home and doing less.

....

Does the "I'm staying home" crowd apply this to everything in life? "I don't like the way the company is run, so I'm not going to work."

"Honey, I'm just not happy with your performance as a spouse, so I'm going to be less active in the marriage until you improve."

"Kids, I'm disappointed with your performance in school. Until you improve, I'm ignoring you."

The thing is, I wonder how often the "I'm staying home this year" crowd voted before. In fact, I wonder if they ever vote.

I don't understand the "I've never been more fearful for the future of this country, but I'm not willing to do anything about it" mentality.

Ronald Reagan is not walking through that door, folks.

...

I came from a communist country and value my responsibility to vote too highly to stay home.

You are what you eat and you eat crap sandwiches.

I forgot my cardinal rule of not arguing with idiots. It's like teaching pigs to sing. It hurts my ears and frustrates the pig.

That’s funny. We know what Hilary would do but we have no idea how deeply the GOPe would betray us. Bush-whack me once and shame on you, Bush-whack me twice and shame on me.

Hillary.

Jeb.

(or Romney/Christie and the host of Ruling Class GOP-e stooges)

Not a damn dime’s worth of difference between any of them except the letter after their name.

A vote for any of them is the same damn thing as a vote for Hillary because the end result will be exactly the same: exponential growth of government and debt while flooding the nation with third world dependents with hand-outs on our dime.

So this juvenile attempt of yours at ‘admonishment’ only steels our resolve and makes it quite clear that if Conservatism is to survive, it must ditch the GOP or be rendered irrelevant.

Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil. I take it you don’t like Romney and he was not your first or second choice and so you really didn’t support him or vote for him. Rather you voted against Obama and Romney was the only best option. I call that anti-voting.

But understand this: Anti-voting is not going to get ANY Repug elected. We have to have a reason to vote FOR someone - or they won’t win.

“Vote for Romney - he sucks less” is just not going to make it. It didn’t work for McCain. It won’t work in the future.

So. You rant at us who don’t vote, vote third party or write in as having the same effect as voting for Obama. At least we have a conscience and conviction. You are just a Repub toadie conditioned to vote for any RINO Rove tells you to.

Yes, we conservatives fully realize the consequences of our decisions. We know however the only way for the Republican Party to have any effect is for us as the base to say ENOUGH!

So your thesis is we would be just as bad now if Romney (who promised to overturn obozocare) had won. We would have no foreign policy, the economy would continue to tank, islam would no longer be considered terrorism and holder would be appointed racists in chief.

Thank for all that since you voted for it.

And hitlery will welcome your vote with open arms.

Maybe he just likes the GOP-e’s current campaign slogan:

“Vote for the Lesser Evil”

That happens in the primaries. Once we get to the GE we can only vote for the most conservative candidate even if the most conservative candidate isn’t very conservative.

Not voting is the same as voting for the opposition (see my arithmetic notations upthread).

"Unless the congressional district has all true conservatives, the republican political party must moderate its message in order to win the district seat. That’s why you have rinos. There’s a tactical reason for keeping a seat light-republican instead of full democrat."

That would be a great analysis if that was the way it worked. Fight liberals in liberal states using that tactic. Unfortunately, the GOP has decided to use those liberal electing tactics is conservative areas where they would otherwise get conservative candidates. Take a look at which states allow crossover voting/open primaries. You'll find too many Southern/conservative states that allow dems to vote in republican primaries. In states where conservatives would have landslides, we get some of the most liberal republicans in office. Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, I'm sure there are more. But Northern states like NY, Mass. no crossover votes.

Kind of blows your theory out of the water. Since those "seat light-republicans" of yours are in conservative dominated areas. As for why there are so many open primary states in conservative areas, I'm certain it's by GOPe design.

Whatever. Just remember, we are trying to give fair warning. Do not run an open borders guy. Don't do it.

If you do it, don't expect us to go along with it.

An open borders candidate in the general will break this party.

You lie.

The Romney/Ryan platform made it clear they would not overturn ObamaCare. It was settled law, Ryan said. Besides, why would the author of RomneyCare overturn ObamaCare.

Look it up. Oh, and wipe your chin. You have some (maybe) fuzz on it. From sucking mittens.

BS. And BTW - answer my earlier charge:

If Hillary changed parties, declared herself a Republican and made it through the primaries - you would vote for her.

That being true proves you are no conservative.

>>Look it up. Oh, and wipe your chin. You have some (maybe) fuzz on it. From sucking mittens.<<

So now you have gone to the liberal playbook of accusing people who point out your lies as liars.

Here is MY proof, liar: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/06/28/romney-vows-to-repeal-obamacare-after-high-court-ruling/

How sad that people like you who indirectly voted obozo in now want to try to claim the high road.

You and yours gave us obozo and obozocare — eat it in a sandwich.

You and yours are fools and you are now permanently branded a liar.

Ronald Reagan is not walking through that door, folks.

...

That’s because the second most important mission of the GOPe over the past 25 years has been to make sure another Reagan didn’t rise through the ranks. Their top mission has been to purge the party of Reaganism, reestablish Big Government, and raid the treasury and pile up debt with their friends, the Democrats. There’s no way I’ll ever vote for a GOPe candidate. The writer of the article has his weapon pointed in the wrong direction.

So now you are taking flights of fantasy to support your vote for obozo.

You are no conservative. You are just a tool to “purity” and did not care what that led to.
