Doctors: 'Irresponsible' to send troops to 'combat' Ebola

A real-life horror story is playing out in Africa as Ebola spreads, and President Obama’s decision to send 3,000 troops to Liberia to combat the virus could very well put Americans at risk of contracting the deadly illness at home, some health experts say.

According to the World Health Organization, at least 4,985 people have contracted Ebola and at least 2,461 have died. Several doctors have fallen ill with Ebola, and two of them have died. New reports indicate a Doctors Without Borders staff member has contracted the virus in Liberia and will be evacuated to France for treatment.

“You can see that these doctors, who are highly trained people, got themselves infected,” said Dr. Lee Hieb, former president of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. “So sending troops into an area, if they’re dealing one-on-one with a patient, they’re not going to be able to protect themselves very well. It’s not easy to [prevent transmission], because you get tired and you get careless and you make some simple mistakes. All it takes is one virus particle.”

Dr. Hieb said quarantine measures should be taken to control the outbreak and prevent Ebola from coming to America.

“You don’t get Ebola from Europe,” she told WND. “You get Ebola from Africa. And it’s a really simple formula: Don’t let people fly to America if they’ve been to areas where there’s an outbreak. When there’s an outbreak, stop air [traffic] flow.”

Hieb added, “If they’re going to use the troops to do population control, which is one of the ways you contain it, basically you just don’t let anybody out. You’d make a ring around where it is, and you’d quarantine the area.”

I get it from farm supply stores. It’s used to dip the umbilical cord stub to dry it up and prevent infection. It’s much stronger than the people kind. Of course your skin is dyed orange for a few days, but it’s worth it.

It won’t take two years to build each of the treatment facilities and the report is that the 17 treatment centers will have 100 beds apiece.

Do you ever post anything that isn’t just your gross exaggerations and mistakes?

Years ago I went to the emergency room at the nearby hospital feeling shaky. I went through a lot of tests and shots until I passed out. I woke up day or two later and the attending physician told me I had the same infection that killed Henssen a few days earlier and I was on the same path but the multitude of shots apparently stopped the infection. Later on I was told that Henssen was a member of the Christian Scientist Church and as such refused early treatment.

And that's what some run of the mill bacteria in your fingernails will do to you! Imagine ebola virus becoming a common pathogen on door knobs, bathrooms, computer keyboards, school desks, salad bars, and currency?!

I think I'll go live in a cave in the high desert somewhere in solitude. I do want my dog though.

My big disappointment came when McCain was nominated. Honestly, from then on out it was over as far as I was concerned.

Yes, I was deeply disappointed in McCain’s nomination, as well, but hope drove me on.

If I did not have my trust in the Lord, I would be in the depths of despair right now.

I considered him to be so problematic, I didn’t vote for him.

That was the first election since I became eligible at 18, that I didn’t vote for the Executive Branch slot.

Up until the election and after the election, he lived up to my expectations. This guy is willing to deal with terrorists. He’s been right in there along side Obama playing patti-cake with al Qaeda.

We have both of them, one as much as the other to blame for the existence of ISIS. McCain played a major role in the lead up to the Benghazi killings.

These men, both Obama and McCain are unfit to hold any public office, much less the presidency.

I agree with you. McCain’s actions, though, are just baffling. What are his motives? Obama, of course, hates America, but what motivates McCain and his warmongering? Defense contractors? Saudi money?

I think we all fairly well understand the consequences of your method of treatment.

LOL, you are just out of it.

Remember that is YOUR method of treatment, as you rage against us improving it, want to tell us again how you believe it will take our military 2 years each to build the treatment centers that you oppose them building?

Hospitals built without design, typically take 2 years to construct with qualified screened contractors.

MILCON processes typically take 5 years.

Your recommendation for 10 mil plastic lined walls with a couple of pallets of bleach to handle a possible pandemic is grossly inadequate.

Luckily, those who seriously work to improve treatment will never allow your thinking on their team.

With McCain it goes beyond warmongering in my book.

Look, we can debate the right or wrong nature of reengaging in the Middle-East. I understand both sides there, no need to rehash that.

I happen to support re-engagement. That’s beside the point in this discussion IMO.

I have never in my life advocated arming and financing terrorist groups. The Muslim Brotherhood, al Qaeda, are they serious? Answer, yes, most definitely.

The warmongering issue is one will continue to debate, whether it is or is not warmongering, whether or not it is wise in our own self interest.

Neither of us is going to back McCain standing to be photographed with members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Neither of us is going to back McCain arming or financing these groups. And now we’re training them. WTH?

Both Obama and McCain are willing to cooperate with the parent organization of those who took down the Twin Towers. Can you fathom that? I sure as heck can’t.

I don’t think this goes to money. I think it’s diabolical ideology. There’s something about McCain that we don’t know. It’s very very very very bad.

I knew we were in serious trouble with him when he sided with Vietnam regarding MFN Status against the familes of men MIA, and the Veterans groups. He was downright vicious with them.

That told me he was damaged goods right there.

I don’t know if the VC turned him or what, but his actions are very troubling.

Luckily those working seriously to improve treatment, agree with me, and are trying to fight it in Africa and are building 17 treatment centers of a 100 beds each, and a 25 bed treatment facility for medical workers who become infected.

They will also be producing up to 500 medical helpers per week in training classes.

I guess my use of “war-mongering” was confusing, as I can’t disagree with anything that you said. I was referring to the way McCain seems to frequently want to send in our military to clean up Obamugabe’s messes.

Yes, there is something really strange going on with him, but I can’t believe he hates Western Civilization, while there is no doubt in my mind that the Kenyan does.

At any rate, we are both wise not to trust him.
