The Senate approved a continuing resolution for the budget which included a provision authorizing President Obama to arm and train Syrian rebels for the purpose of combating Islamic State terrorists.
The legislation passed 78-22.
Of the 22 Senators that voted no, here are the 12 Republicans that voted against the provision:
John Barrasso (WY) Tom Coburn (OK) Michael Crapo (ID) Ted Cruz (TX) Mike Enzi (WY) Dean Heller (NV) Mike Lee (UT) Jim Moran (KS) Rand Paul (KY) James Risch (ID) Pat Roberts (KS) Jeff Sessions (AL)

Sen Cruz did the right thing. Sen Cornball did not....as usual. Reminder that Cornball is only conservative during campaign season.
++++
And note that Senator Roberts of Kansas, that supposedly GOPe faux conservative, did the right thing and voted with Cruz.

An honest question, from someone who lives over 1000 miles to the SE of Kansas and would not know: is this the vote of a man who is trying to get re-elected and acting conservative, or a man who shows evidence of genuinely recognizing the folly of training a group of our enemies because they promise to use the training to fight another group of our enemies?
P.S. My impression is that this is a bit like deciding to train the Italians in 1943 in the hope that they would then turn and fight the Germans.
I have not seen any listing of arms to be supplied to these “rebels”, but it may as well have on it a supply of blunt beheading knives.
The part I see no one discussing is that overthrowing Assad will result in ISIS controlling Syria.
If you think Libya is a wild place, you “ain’t seen nothing yet.”
Syria will make Libya look like a safe haven.
We are ruled by evil people.
Or total fools. Take your pick.
I thought better of the house. Very disappointing.
The house should have voted to support Assad.
I really didn’t even need to look to know Jeff Session knew it was a bad idea!
Shame on the Republicans who voted for this treachery. Oh yeah! Let’s train Islamo-Nazis to become more efficient! Bob
Tell me again why it’s important that the Senate go Republican.
What’s important to me is that the President goes Conservative
Those are our LEADERS, our HEROS.
My pick: Evil fools. Why compromise?
>Reminder that Cornball is only conservative during campaign season.<
.
And so is that large group of sycophants promoting him during election time. They too, are just part-time conservatives.
This is soon going to be the biggest cluster of our life time... We have a coward and liar in the WH. When there is any push back he will run and hide. Isn’t there another poor soul waiting to be beheaded soon?
Praying jack ass Orman losses here in Kanas. Roberts is better than that lefty. I was fooled by Orman for a month then the truth came out. He is in league with the Dems to take out Roberts.
It is campaign season for Cornyn and he is still a RINO
John McCain says he already vetted these groups.
lolz
True...but he has no competition, so he’s not having to act all conservative.
Both my RINOs from Tennessee voted to give arms to ISIS via the “moderate” rebels without defining what a “moderate” rebel was.
Of course both of my Democrat senators who happen to be members of the Republican party voted yes.
