Obama administration forcing new gun buyers to declare race, ethnicity
Washington Times ^ | 9/16/14 | Kelly Riddell

The Obama administration quietly has been forcing new gun buyers to declare their race and ethnicity, a policy change that critics say provides little law enforcement value while creating the risk of privacy intrusions and racial profiling. With little fanfare, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in 2012 amended its Form 4473 — the transactional record the government requires gun purchasers and sellers to fill out when buying a firearm — to identify buyers as either Hispanic, Latino or not. Then a buyer must

You posted an image of the old form. The new form has a question 10a and a question 10b.

You can find the new form here:

Recently the NRA came up with some type of BS as to why we can’t get .22 ammo. Said it was due to the extremely heavy market for the ammo. If that were the case, the factories would be expanding to fill the need so I don’t believe it for a minute. We all know the reason.

Now, for the lowly .22; it is the most common gun (pistol and rifle) in America. There are literally billions of these pistols and rifles. If we have to actually fight a revolution to save what is left of our rights and country, no amount of military weaponry can even come close to match the combined firepower and deadly damage that many patriots with .22s can inflict. Every town and city would be bristling with .22 weapons.

Now (with a little thought) how could the government overcome this? Yep, that’s right....control the .22 ammo market. Not for today but for the certain militaristic overthrow of our free society in the near future.

Gun purchase authorization forms are only the beginning of this movement to enslave us and these little “drip, drips” of useless information requests are simply the start of something much bigger. It’s like a cancer. Leave it alone and do nothing about it and it will surely grow to kill you.

So am I, it so happens that it was forced upon me to accept a European name, I want and deserve reparations.

Signed: Furious White Cloud!

In lieu of reparations I will except a Constitutional Free Republic, a Government Of, By, and For The People.

I realize that is for most, a very extreme idea and too much to ask.

All y’alls tinfoil is on too tight. This hispanic/not hispanic thing is just more dumb government red tape. It’s got nothing to do with gun confiscation, race-baiting or anything else. It’s just the result of some liberal do-gooder getting her panties in a wad because “hispanic” is not a race so we have to change the forms. This change applies to all federal forms. BATFE just handled it clumsily — as they often do. There are so many frustrating things about the 4473 form. This one is relatively minor.

For the first year or so after the hispanic/not hispanic question was added, dealers didn’t even convey this information to the FBI when using the online NICS system. They only got asked about question 10a if they called in the NICS check. Only recently has the FBI updated the online version to include 10a. Having gone through a ATF inspection recently, I can tell you the only thing they can about is that one of the boxes is checked. They don’t seem to care which one and they don’t take any note of it.

A couple of other points:

All y’all who talk tough about putting smart-ass answers on your 4473, know this: you’re just increasing your chances of getting a DELAY response. Play nice and you’ll likely be in and out the door with your gun in no time. Screw around and you may find yourself going away empty handed and coming back a couple of days later. If you’re buying from a place like Walmart that won’t release a gun without a PROCEED (instead of simply waiting three days) you may never get your gun.

And yes, the article is basically correct. The 4473 has had a race question for years. The split into 10a/10b — separate questions for race and ethnicity — happened about two years ago. Again, it’s no big deal.

Finally, it’s pretty clear that some of you guys never buy guns, or haven’t in a long time.

The federal fascists want to know if those are white bullets, brown bullets or black bullets coming at them.

Bingo! I have been doing that for 40 years. I didn't know a lot back then but I did know there was something very wrong with this type of statistical profiling and the people who were pushing it.

Cordially,

Makes me wonder if there is any legal definition of race or ethnicity.

Yep. The Feds are the reason we cannot buy 22 ammo. They figure if they can’t take our guns, they can take our ammo.

I have a very small drop of AM Indian blood. Can I count that? I can’t prove it. My grandma’s side, no records, beyond her birth.

I am a female US AMERICAN CITIZEN, born to US AMERICAN CITIZENS. Baltimore, MD. 66 yrs ago.

Besides my CCW permit like my DL and passport has nearly the same photo on it, you can tell I’m a Caucasian in my senior years.

After the black minority government falls in the US we need a a Truth and Reconciliation Commission like they had in South Africa after the fall of the white minority government there. Grievance politics should cut both ways.

I don't answer question on forms that infringe on my privacy. Especially doctors forms. They are now taking your photo for your files, this includes docs you've been seeing for years. Part of 0 care I suspect and fraud control maybe. I thought this one funny.

BREAKING: Obama Calls For More Gun Control On the Anniversary of Navy Yard Shooting

September 16 2014
by Dan Cannon

Today is the anniversary of the Navy Yard Shooting in which 12 people were shot and killed.

The White House has marked the occasion by releasing a statement from the president calling for more gun control.

Statement by the President

One year ago, our dedicated military and civilian personnel at the Washington Navy Yard were targeted in an unspeakable act of violence that took the lives of 12 American patriots. As we remember men and women taken from us so senselessly, we keep close their family and friends, stand with the survivors who continue to heal and pay tribute to the first responders who acted with skill and bravery.

At the same time, we continue to improve security at our country’s bases and installations to protect our military and civilian personnel who help keep us safe. One year ago, 12 Americans went to work to protect and strengthen the country they loved.

Today, we must do the same – rejecting atrocities like these as the new normal and renewing our call for common-sense reforms that respect our traditions while reducing the gun violence that shatters too many American families every day.

Nice distraction from ISIS, ebola, Ukraine, Benghazi, the IRS, and the multitude of other important issues facing our country/this administration.

Hopefully Democrats will push the gun control issue before the midterm elections. I predict that wouldn’t go very well for them.

Prohibitionists Give up on Semi-Auto Gun Bans? Not So Fast

Charlotte, NC —(Ammoland.com)- For the last 25 years, banning so-called “assault weapons” has been at the forefront of the anti-gun agenda.

However, in recent days, an article from ProPublica and a “study” from The Center for American Progress indicated that the gun control establishment is shifting away from advocating for semi-auto bans and towards background checks/registration. The “coincidence” of these publications appearing days apart hints at what might be public relations scheming, rather than a genuine shift in viewpoint.

While this supposed de-emphasis on semi-auto bans should be met with skepticism by all gun rights supporters, the items discussing the reevaluation of priorities are instructive in that they illustrate the quarter-century-long campaign against semi-autos was unjustified from inception.

The ProPublica article cites several prominent gun control activists who are now downplaying the importance of semi-auto bans. Bloomberg mouthpiece Shannon Watts, who started Moms Demand Action specifically to target semi-autos, acknowledged to ProPublica that at some point she “realized that pushing for a ban isn’t the best way to prevent gun deaths.” Similarly, Bloomberg employee Erika Soto Lamb mused, in regards to semi-auto bans, “we feel like it’s a more productive use of our time, effort, money, voices, and votes [to focus] on policies that are going to save the most lives.” The Brady Campaign’s Dan Gross also noted a shift in focus, stating that semi-auto bans are not the “greatest opportunity” to “prevent gun violence.”
