Liberals claim that the War on Poverty has failed because we didnt spend enough money. Their answer is just to spend more. But the facts show otherwise.
Since its beginning, U.S. taxpayers have spent $22 trillion on Johnsons War on Poverty (in constant 2012 dollars). Adjusting for inflation, thats three times more than was spent on all military wars since the American Revolution.

Again, when judging the “success” or “failure” of any leftist policy,
you have to find out what the REAL, not just stated, goals were.
No it hasn’t. LBJ said that it would have the N-words voting Democrat for the next two hundred years. So far he hasn’t been proven wrong.
You mean bailing water out of the sea at St. Augustine Beach and pouring it into Tampa Bay won’t raise the level of the Gulf of Mexico?

We have very little true poverty since the welfare state was created. The hammock long ago became a 4-poster bed.
Taxing the hard-working public to pay bills for those who - for whatever reason - are not making big dough is simply a cash purchase of votes.
Moreover, if you turn the constitution inside out looking for the place where it says that it’s perfectly okay to rob Peter to pay Paul, you’ll never find it.
The War on Poverty Has Been a Colossal Flop
...
That depends on your point of view. If you love Big Government, it’s been a tremendous success.
Celebrating 50-years of entitlement socialism. $22 trillion since 1964 to create and maintain LBJ’s monolithic voting block, and the “poverty” rate remains the same. Now, the takers are about to outnumber the makers, and it’s still not enough for the growing numbers of these blood-sucking maggots.
War on Poverty - Poverty won.
War on Drugs - Drugs won.
War on Terrorism - ............................
WOW!.....
Well said!
Poverty won. We have the wealthiest poor people on earth.................
Agree 100%
I used to teach Intro to Economics to college Freshmen. Early in the class, I would tell them I could end poverty overnight. At the time, $9600 was the poverty line for a family of four. When they asked how I could do it, I told them: Gather together every family head making $9600, line them up, and shoot them! The students eyes would go as big as pie plates. After they calmed down, I would ask them: How long will it be before the guy making $9601 starts bitching that he’s the poorest person around. We then launched into a discussion about how a perfectly-even distribution of income kills incentive and why such systems, despite many efforts to implement it, have always failed. The War on Poverty is just another example of a failed attempt to redistribute income on a basis other than productivity.
that was the real goal. not economic freedom, rather moving from one plantation to the government plantation.
LOL! That’s a great way to grab your students attention! Nice way to plant a seed that perhaps later in their lives will sprout!
Agreed. If you can fog a mirror, you show up for work every day, even if it's to clean toilets in public buildings, sweep the streets, whatever. In addition, I would implement mandatory drug testing. Finally, if you are on public assistance and pay no income taxes, you don't get to vote in local or federal elections. Yeah, I know that in this politically correct society that will never happen, but it's the way I feel about it, especially when I see food stamps (or the electronic equivalent) being spent on booze and cigarettes...and it does happen.
I disagree, it has been a colossal success.
