In early June 1964, a group of Republican governors sought to wrestle control of their party from Barry Goldwater, the Arizona conservative who was about to lead the GOP to one of the most crushing defeats in its history. The governors saw a disaster in the making, and sought a moderate candidate who could capture the imaginations of grassroots Republicansbut also beat President Lyndon Johnson in the general election. Led by Ohios James Rhodesthe Republican Governors Association was meeting in Cleveland, and Rhodes was a legendary vote counterthe group included Pennsylvanias William Scranton and later New Yorks Nelson Rockefeller.

Couple that interview or statement with the real Mitt Romneythe one from the documentary speaking to the nation from the heart every day and on every stop. Match that Mitt against the polished and calculating Hillary Clinton. Well then, as Paul Ryan said, the third time really could be the charm. Romney may still do this2016 needs Mitt even if Mitt doesnt think he needs it yet.

Again, can we agree that NO ONE who has run on the GOP side in the past should be eligible to run AGAIN!
Here are my favorites for 2016:
TED CRUZ - my bumper stick is ON MY CAR (see runtedrun.com)
Gov Scott Walker - WI
Congressman Trey Goudy
Dr. Benjamin Carson
MITTENS has been a disaster for TWO times now - NO MORE MITTENS, no more BUSHs and NO MORE CLINTONS OR OBAMAS
McCain loses
Romney loses
Yep, third time would certainly be the charm alright.
What do these two have in common?
Neither of them are Conservative. Wouldn’t it be interesting just as a test, to see a Conservative given a chance to win?
You know folks, we wouldn’t have had Ronald Reagan either, if the RNC GOPe had their way.
They were so pissed off about it, they’ve done their damnedest to make sure it never happens again.
Screw ‘em...
And what did winning all of those independents get him?
No sane person — anywhere on the political spectrum — can HONESTLY argue that Mitt has a chance of winning. Therefore, anyone pushing Mitt as a candidate WANTS the democrats to win. If not a closet democrat himself, then maybe just an opportunist who thinks his career has more status when the dems are in the whitehouse.
Whatever the reason — fool, moron, traitor or scoundrel — he’s dissembling when he says Mitt can win.
Mitt can’t win.
He knows it, you know it, we all know it.
So why is he saying it?
Not presidential tender yet. I think he would make a great nominee in 2024.
I am not sure he would eliminate programs. I do know he would be a good POTUS a he is a great administrator.
The problem is HE CAN”T WIN! He couldn’t beet Obama and Obama was a disaster from beginning to end. He wouldn’t attack, he wouldn’t pick an attack dog a running mate that would have crushed this scumbag Obama. He could have picked West, he could have picked Newt. Anybody to be an attacker. He picked a policy Wonk.
HE WON”T WIN> I wanted him to beet Obama, he lost. He would lose to Fauxcahontis or Cankles too.
I like Hugh's show, because he has interesting guests. However, he is obsessed with Romney for president. He was beating the Romney drum before anybody. Maybe he wants his book reprinted.
In a country of 320 millions, we can find another family to run the country. No dynasties. No Clinton, No Bush, No Kennedy, No Obama. Enough is Enough!
That's where all my campaign donations are going. He's been right on the issues from the get go and hasn't wavered.
He failed to win a single battle groud state 3 years ago and lost by what was basically a landslide. Yes, by all means, that was so close he certainly deserves yet another chance.
Of all the comments here so far, I think you nailed it the best.
It’s all about the changing demographics and the increasing number of people hooked on free stuff, gives the Dems enormous structural advantages in most elections.
It’s precisely why our Founding Fathers set up a limited government republic, not an unlimited government mass democracy.
Maybe, the Pubs don't win the Senate this year and the party turns to the right.
Proof that listening to Hugh Hewitt will shrink your brain.
I vow I will never ever ever vote for Mittens
1988: Bush Sr. wins 53% of the white vote: stomps opponent.
2012: Romney wins 59% of the white vote: gets stomped.
He came in 2nd.
