Low-income residents in a California city will soon be able to get high for free.
The Berkeley City Council has passed a law requiring medical marijuana dispensaries to distribute 2 percent of their stashes to people making less than $32,000 per year or $46,000 per family.
Under the new ordinance, which was approved unanimously this summer, only city residents will be eligible and they must have a prescription.
'Basically, the city council wants to make sure that low-income, homeless, indigent folks have access to their medical marijuana, their medicine,” Councilman Darryl Moore told CBS San Francisco.
The law requires that the free medical marijuana, which is legal in California, 'be the same quality on average as medical cannabis that is dispensed to other members,' according to Berkeleyside.
Mayor Tom Bates says the move is an effort to provide equal access to what California law considers medication.

I’ve never seen anyone except “younger” folks entering and leaving the DOPE shop, oh, sorry, “dispensary” in our town...and everyone of them appeared reasonably healthy...
“Medical” marijuana, what a joke...nothing more than an excuse to allow the vast majority of vermin and leaches to get high...using the very few who benefit as a crutch to legalize it.

Was checking into an upscale hotel when he was at the top of his game. The clerk was notifying the rather proper British couple ahead of me the power would be off for what the city of Bodega Bay thought would be about an hour the next morning. I blurted out: What a country, they even tell you when they are going to have the power failures, in his accented speech. The couple, the man who looked like Commander Whitehead from the old Schweeps commercials and who had no idea about the comedian's gig, kind of reared back and looked askance at us both. I loved it.
I’ll say it again: after working 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, I will only accept the concept of medical marijuana when it is treated as an actual medicine.
Let them jump through all the same federal regulatory hoops that are required for other prescription drugs, then see how they like it.
If you want to hear some nuclear grade whining just propose that all legalized "medical marijuana" should be processed and distrubuted with the same stringent controls as other addictive medicinal drugs.
That means marijuana must be professionally processed into a non-smoking form, no local growers, no Mom & Pop stores, etc.
The dope smoking Choomer go nuts if anyone even mentions these ideas.
