New Finds Reveal Fully-Human Neandertal

by Brian Thomas, M.S. *

The case for Neandertals as more primitive members of an evolutionary continuum that spans from apes to modern man continues to weaken. Genetic and archaeological finds are completely reshaping modern concepts of Neandertal men and women.

Researchers interested in unraveling humanity's past recently sequenced a female Neandertal's ancient DNA and published their results in Nature.1 The research included sequences that closely matched: Neandertal, Denisovan, modern man, plus an unidentified variation of man. The study authors suspected that these different groups interbred. Just as prior studies showed, this one confirmed that similarities between Neandertal and other human DNA sequences place "Miss Neandertal" inside human kind.2

In the context of biblical history, ancient families founded tribes and nations soon after their dispersal from the Tower of Babel. It appears these ancient people showed much wider variation in genetic and physical differences than the more limited range found across today's human populations.3 If accurate, then we would fully expect Neandertal peoples to have been able to interbreed with other post-Babel peoples.

So someone is “right” on a “theory”. Specious reasoning. Nobody can comment on so-called “Neanderthal” society without having met any.

They were not “hominids” but people. That I can accept, as well as their having been physically stronger than today’s people. But “exterminated” by lesser humans, no. More likely they were antediluvian.

Yes, the dilution through interbreeding theory has merit, but it implies that the H. sapiens population was much, much bigger than that of the Neanderthals. Also, if I understand the DNA evidence correctly, it demonstrates that there was some interbreeding, but not enough for the entire Neanderthal population to be absorbed. So, it has merit, but not 100% clear.

The theory I find most compelling is the caloric deficit theory. A larger brain, larger muscles, and a more active metabolism (to maintain body heat while living on a freakin’ glacier) all require much more calorie input. A human functions best at 2000 Calories a day, and can survive indefinitely on as little as 400 to 600 (you spend most of your time sleeping but it can be done). Neanderthals, on the other hand, probably needed between 8,000 to 12,000 Calories per day just to keep from wasting away. One theory of European megafauna extinction was that the Neanderthals literally ate them all. It’s possible that the Neanderthals died from food shortage in light of the decline of the mammoth population. It’s also worth considering that this made Neanderthals extremely vulnerable to siege tactics; a band of humans could kill a Neanderthal village merely by harassing their hunting parties and chasing game away from their hunting grounds, and this would only take a few weeks at most. In theory.

Not really. The race isn’t always to the swift nor is the battle always to the strong. Being stronger and faster increases the odds in your favor, but they’re still just that: odds. You can shave the dice to your advantage and yet still roll snake-eyes.

Unidentified is Yeti?

Neanderthals, who appeared around 200,000 years ago, also had their larynx in a different position and likely were sopranos ...

Unmentioned in this study is Homo Heildelbergenis (a very close relative to Neanderthals, or perhaps their direct ancestor) who appeared 500,000 years ago.

“...evolutionary continuum that spans from apes to modern man.”

Didn’t they just release the full spectrum of comparison between man and ape - where the DNA chain is completely and far from being the same...??? This initial theory was based off a small analysis between man and chimp/ape - but now that the full analysis has been complete, it has been shown that there is a large gap and no common ancestor...

Article:

https://answersingenesis.org/genetics/dna-similarities/what-about-the-similarity-between-human-and-chimp-dna/

Because of this similarity, evolutionists have viewed the chimpanzee as “our closest living relative.” Most early comparative studies were carried out only on genes (such as the sequence of the cytochrome c protein), which constituted only a very tiny fraction of the roughly three billion DNA base pairs that comprise our genetic blueprint. Although the full human genome sequence has been available since 2001, the whole chimpanzee genome has not. Thus, much of the previous work was based on only a fraction of the total DNA.

This is very interesting but I don’t see this finding supporting a literalist approach to Genesis (as I assume the ICR advocates).

Something that really strikes me about neanderthals and similar “peoples” throughout pre-history is just that: that they are prehistoric in the classic sense. (Their existence goes back farther than 6-10,000 years.)

We’re talking 20,000-50,000 years ago. The Australian Aboriginal people are another example of this who are still alive today.

The point is 20-50,000 years ago is clearly outside the literalist interpretation of Genesis.

Along with a fascination for phallic objects such as trains and tall buildings, the standard psychological test for the mental illness of leftism includes the question: “Do you fantasize about sex with Neanderthals?” It's a classic symptom of the disease. Leftist academics obsess about Neanderthal/Homo Sapien sex.

If people took Genesis literally these arguments would be moot. How long is the ‘day’ described in Genesis? The translation itself is an error. It’s some long time period. That’s all we can know.

The Garden itself isn’t Eden, but a garden placed in a land called Eden. Where is Eden? Nobody knows because the Bible doesn’t say. How long was Adam in the Garden? Eve?

There is a literal gap between two naifs being let out into the wild, deadly world and them being able to survive. How did they start a fire? Hunt? Make clothing?

Any literal interpretation that was honest would simply state - we don’t know.

Actually, Neanderthals has bigger brains than us.

Well, you've proved your case.

The reason Neanderthals went extinct is that they made abortions legal.

“Neanderthals were superior to modern man. That’s why they were killed off. It’s happening again today.”

Perhaps, but they didn’t look as good.

It is disturbing to consider the possibility that human devolution has been going on longer than anyone will admit.

Seems like quite recently it was being argued that they couldn't interbreed. Somebody, somewhere, has an agenda.
