It’s hard to believe that it’s been 35 years since this smash-hit frathouse comedy was first released. Amazingly enough, Animal House only received mixed reviews when it came out—though both Time magazine and Roger Ebert named it one of the best movies of 1978. Critics didn’t really matter, though, since the film grossed well over $100 million, making it the third-biggest of the year, behind only Grease and Superman.

No mention that Robert Cray was a guitarist for Otis Day and the Knights.

“Fat drunk and stupid is no way to go through life. ...” I agree with the dean, but I always thought it sounded like a good vacation. ;-)

Had a long discussion about this with my cousin’s husband. We agreed that every generation thinks they invented two things - sex and comedy films.

The Richard Berry version was pretty obscure and from 1957, I don’t think it was a hit outside of LA and the Bay area. I don’t think it rocked like the Kingsmen (from Portland) who got their inspiration from the Rockin’ Robin Roberts version, which was a big hit in Seattle in ‘61 or ‘62.

Hey! He took the money and ran, instead of taking a chance.

PJ O'Rourke sold his stock (that was part of his Lampoon compensation) pretty much at the high after the movie peaked.

Speaking of Eddie Murphy, I watched “Delirious” a few weeks ago, and it still makes me laugh as much as it did when it originally came out.

Eddie lost his edge, but back in the day nobody was better.

I knew he looked familiar, but I never got around to looking up his name.

"Hoover" is directing, "Two and a Half Men" most recently comes to mind.

Last time I saw "Neidermeyer" and looked him up, he has/had a restaurant in MI.

Riegert pops up a lot. Liked him in "Barbarians at the Gate".

I’ve met Richard Berry on a couple of occasions. He was a big part of the popular music scene in LA during the 1950’s.

Finally saw this film on TV about 15 years ago. Waste of my time.
