West Africa's Ebola outbreak is out of control but it can be stopped, World Health Organization chief Margaret Chan said on Friday.
"This outbreak is moving faster than our efforts to control it," Chan told the presidents of Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast at a meeting in Guinea's capital Conakry.
"If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also severe socioeconomic disruption and a high risk of spread to other countries," she said, according to a WHO transcript.

Does the Caliph do a lot of glad-handing at all these fund raisers he attends or is he in a sterile bubble?
Yikes! The same CDC in Atlanta that was reprimanded a few days ago for being careless and sloppy with their vials of anthrax will be in charge of Dr. Brantley’s recovery from ebola when he arrives in the US. Nothing like endangering another continent by bringing the virus here.
So much for the custom of shaking hands with strangers, at least until this outbreak is suppressed.
like hini flu?
Agenda 21 and Ebola were made for each other.
What really worries me is the potential spread to Asia. China, Guangzhou, has a large population of African expats there. As well as the numerous Chinese workers in W. Africa who have the potential to bring back something.
One traffic accident away from destroying america. For a Satan worshipping Muslim like Obama, this is a chance to be a king in Hell forever.
The White House (Valerie Jarrett) probably has a plan that will ensure a proper level of diversity within these disease outbreaks.
Guangzhou, has already implemented control measures. Anybody getting off the plane with a fever of 99.7 or higher is being quarantined and tested.
Oh, I doubt it’s “diversity” she has in mind.
More like “let’s make sure those redneck conservatives are hardest hit”.
I shouldn’t be surprised...the viral load of ebola per deciliter of body fluid is so great during a persons “hot phase” which includes a period after ones death is so high that it’s been said it rivals the hazards of other well known highly toxic chemicals. A cough or spray to the eye or to a scratch by hemorrhagic bleeding, runny stools, or other fluids and one may well find that one’s personal goose is cooked!
Ebola is a “hot” virus - it kills its hosts quickly, SO if you can quarantine those infected and keep new folks from being exposed, it burns itself out. Two cycles (21 + 21) of no new cases usually means the end of an outbreak. If it’s spreading “faster than efforts to control it”, the efforts to keep those infected quarantined to prevent new exposures is not working. This outbreak appears to me to be out of control or very close to it. Usually, the Ebola outbreaks have been in the center of Africa - this is different because it’s ‘west’ Africa, where many travel centers are located so containing it in a remote area is not what is going on this time. The CDC says that with our ‘good hygiene’ and the good quarantine methods we have already (as opposed to African countries), any outbreak here could be controlled fairly quickly. My bottom line is that I’m not buying anything the ‘government’ is selling these days - too many lies over the dam already on pretty much everything.
"Canadian scientists have shown that the deadliest form of the ebola virus could be transmitted by air between species."

Yup.
All part of Obama’s promise to “Fundamentally transform the United States of America” into another failed European Socialist Welfare State, made EASILY possible by the obedient efforts of Speaker “Blank Check” Boehner.
I remember when SARS was supposed to kill us all.
Funeral homes may well insist on a “burn first” ask questions later strategy! (No, no we won’t make Aunt Lizzy look beautiful...how about we pay you to allow us to cremate her instead!)
I’ve been posting that link for 2 days now.
It also survives on surfaces (particularly polished surfaces, like much of our public transportation network!) for up to 5 days or more.
1 to 10 virus particles are all that are necessary to cause infection.
It did. This is just the aftermath.
I could see limited outbreaks(but catastrophic) though in the Gay and IV drug abuser groups. Because of their sex habits, an outbreak would go like wild fire. Just imagine the political drauma....they refused to be quarantined and to control their sex habits despite HIV....what would they do with Ebola?
