Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl could have a tax-free $350,000 dropped into his bank account if the current investigation into his disappearance from his base in Afghanistan was not desertion, and if he is deemed to have been a prisoner of war for the five years he was held by Islamic militants, Fox News has learned.
The 28-year-old soldier, for whom the U.S. traded five senior Taliban operatives held at Guantanamo Bay, was set to return to active duty Monday after spending six weeks in medical rehab at Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio.
“Essentially he’ll be working a desk job,” Pentagon spokesman Col. Steve Warren told reporters at the Pentagon Monday.
Bergdahl is due approximately $200,000 in back pay for the time he was in Taliban hands. He would be eligible for another $150,000 if an ongoing probe determines he was a prisoner of war. Both sums could be tax free for Bergdahl, who was promoted from private first class to sergeant during the time he was held.

The Army has clearly decided that he isn't going to be treated as a deserter or collaborator, despite the considerable evidence to the contrary.
That leaves essentially two possibilities:
1) Barry, as CiC, has given a direct order that Bergdahl is to be “reintegrated” and his previous behavior excused and ignored, for personal political reasons of the Potus; or,
2) Bergdahl was on a secret mission to spy on his captors.
You can figure out for yourselves which option you think most likely.
Wow. Back in the good old days, deserters were shot. Now they get a pot of taxpayer cash, tax free. That’s better than the lottery.
Soldier: "Gee sir, I don't know why he did it, but he wrapped that extention cord around his neck and jumped out of the 3rd floor barracks! Just ask these other two soldiers, they saw the same thing I did"!
So that they can keep him away from the rest of the active duty population they will give him a profile and assign him to an admin job where a career office will be instructed to keep him 'safe' from any unwanted contact.
Bowe would be a perfect replacement for Senators Kerry, Harkin, Levin, or Durbin. Traitors all!

Yet another way Obama can use taxpayer’s money to fund jihad.
The Army runs on regulations and paperwork. As much power as Obama thinks he has, he is still no match for a GS-7 who demands that the paperwork must be handled properly.
Bergdahl will have a Commander and there will be a discussion with Bergdahl to first see if he wants to stay in the Army or get out. Decisions will then be made for the next step.
You know there’s a problem when his checks go direct despot to a bank in Kabul.
What’s next? Will the deserter be promoter to head of the DOD?
My guess is hell be doing something like clean up duty in the morning at the Officer’s Club.
