So says Politico’s Jennifer Haberkorn, but color me skeptical. Not of Haberkorn’s reporting on the subject, which accurately takes the temperature of the rhetoric from the Left, but of the bravado coming from Capitol Hill Democrats in the dog days of July. Democrats claim they want to make a midterm fight over a relatively narrow Supreme Court decision that doesn’t restrict access to contraception in any way as a means to fire up their “war on women” rhetoric and turn out their base in what looks like a dismal election cycle:
With an eye on the November elections, congressional Democrats on Wednesday introduced a bill that would overturn the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby contraception decision.
Democrats and women’s health groups believe they have a powerful campaign weapon in pushing back on the Supreme Court’s 5-4 ruling that Hobby Lobby and other closely held for-profit companies don’t have to comply with the health law’s contraceptive coverage requirement if it violates the owners’ religious beliefs.
The bill was drafted by Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), a longtime women’s health advocate, and Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.), who is up for reelection this year. Sen. Mark Begich, a Democrat up for reelection in Alaska, joined them at the press conference to release the bill. …
They’re framing it as the court allowing gender discrimination and putting bosses in charge of personal health decisions to use contraception, even when medicine is prescribed for nonreproductive reasons, such as to treat endometriosis. And they want to make sure Republicans have to answer whether they support it.

Exactly. But women being prevented from getting contraception is the lie that is being told. They ARE NOT being prevented from getting birth control!

Well, let’s look at a “conservative” state like South Carolina.
In 2010, an unknown simpleton named Alvin Greene for some reason, won the Democratic primary to challenge Jim DeMint for Senate.
During a TV interview with Lawrence O’Donnell, he kept mumbling “Jim DeMint started the recession” over and over again.
Every question asked of him had the same answer.

When asked about his plans for the economy, his response was the same: “Vote for me, I have a plan.”
Of course, nobody expected him to win. Jim DeMint did not even spend any significant amount of money on his campaign and donated a portion of his money to other GOP candidates.
Jim DeMint of course won.
But here’s the surprise: Alvin Greene took in close to 30% of South Carolina’s votes !!! (nearly 350,000 votes ).
You want to see how stupid people can be? This election was a clear example of the NUMBER of stupid voters.
How much more of liberal states?
Actually, I believe it had everything to do with the Religious Freedom Act, signed by a 'Rat pres and passed by a 'Rat congress way back when. The Hobby-Lobby decision does not mention the 1st amendment, only that act. What the 'Rats say they want to do is repeal or modify that act; forcing perhaps a later SCOTUS decision without the law.
Have DEM Congress critters even bothered to check the public’s approval rating of Hobby Lobby vs. their own?

Sadly, I think you’re right. If any of the “GOP Central” organizations were worth anything, they’d be sending out talking points.
Such as:
Hobby Lobby has a Protestant ownership, not opposed to contraception in principle, but opposed to abortion. And of the contraceptive drugs included in Obamacare, HL accepts 16 and opposes only 3, the ones that are morning-after drugs that essentially cause abortions. (These are not even safe for women, btw, another point that should be made.)
Patty Murray leads the charge. A person who’s face is the only birth control she will ever need.
That’s pretty much the basis of the left’s message -
“do what thou will, with no consequences”.

The clincher will be when the dimocrats tell the whole truth. That the employees of Hobby Lobby only need to pay for their own abortifacients and abortions.

The seem unable to counter point the Dems lies. How hard can it be? Geez they pay for 16 out of 20 . . . and double the usual type minimum wage retail jobs pay.
Well, for one reason, Bambi is probably not impeachable even in the House and the media show would be ridiculous. And the other thing is that even if they can impeach him in the House - without the Senate to support his removal - it would make him even more of a partisan hero than he is now.
We’re not going to win the Senate, I’m afraid, because of all the bizarre things such as Mississippi and we will probably even lose seats. But be that as it may, until impeachment means more than shaking your finger and saying “Naughty, naughty,” it’s useless and we are making ourselves look ridiculous by urging it.
The time may come, but it’s not now. The important thing now is to ensure that the GOP majority is maintained in the House and that, if in any way possible, we get Harry Reid out of the Senate by getting even a one-vote majority. Whether you like your GOP candidate or not, numbers are all.
This is an issue that stirs up the Dem base. They’re admitting that this is going to be an election determined largely by base turnout. They’re placing a bet that it’ll drive their base to the polls.
The question is can the GOP turn out enough of it’s base on it’s base issues (Obama scandals) and win over enough of the limited number of non-base independents/moderates on pocketbook issues (Obamacare premiums, etc) to swing the elections necessary to hold the House (likely) and take the Senate (possible)?
To the rest of us, the state is closing in.

No surprise at all. South Carolina is 27.9% black, which is to say it is probably at least 27.9% liberal. Red states take more money from the Federal government because red states generally have more blacks, and therefore more people on welfare, as a % of the general population. Weirdly enough, it's also one of the reasons red states generally have higher crime rates than blue states.
Because they sure as hell do not want to make Obamacare or illegal immigration or Obama’s war on coal or the historically low employment rate or escalating inflation or any of Obama’s other “achievements” as their midterm message.
Gee, now that is a surprise. You mean they are trying to get women fired up so they’ll come out and vote the Evil Republicans out of office? Who would have ever thought?/s
