Just as an update to all:

I have currently reached out to the point of contact person mentioned in the flyer and am waiting for a response. It’s been almost a day with nothing.

I’m going to wait until Friday, and if no response by then, I will take further steps. I will update then.

Might I ask what further steps you are going to take? Since the Archdiocese was aware this was taking place (it's on the website for the Archdiocese) you'll have to go over their head to report it.

Oh wow, I did not see that it was also on the Archdiocese website. I assumed that was a mistake on icwhatudo’s part. (Sorry, my mistake!)

Ok well this makes this much clearer then. At least for me.

It’s clear to me at least the official policy for such a ministry is based on this “Courage” apostolate. Which states in part, “From our web site you will learn about same-sex attractions and chastity. By developing an interior life of chastity, which is the universal call to all Christians, one can move beyond the confines of the homosexual label to a more complete identity in Christ.”

Which is entirely different than celebrating gay sex.

So the fact that the archdiocese promotes this apostolate as well as the flyer in the OP leads me to believe this is a manifestation of that “Courage” lay apostolate.

As NKP_Vet said (and he’s correct) Bishop Lori is no “liberal” Catholic. There is no way he would allow an activity to be promoted on his website that, to the best of his knowledge endorsed homosexual behavior.

Now with all that said, the language in the flyer does read like any other “gay pride” thing. I can definitely see that. So here’s the plan:

I’m going to wait on this “Gordon Creamer”’s response and if he doesn’t get back to me by Friday, I’m going to reach out to friends I know who went to that church to see if they have any insights. Then, if not, I may try to contact the pastor directly. Then, if that is fruitless, I will do one of two things:

1. I will contact the archdiocese for assurance that this group is taking guidance from the “Courage” ministry.

Or..

2. I will attend the meeting they will be having on the 24th personally. And find out directly.

I kind of lean towards #2, but I have a long commute every day, so I don’t know if I will have the energy for it. Especially since it might entail some kind of confrontation. I don’t know. We’ll see. One step at a time!

Ultimately though, I’m not as concerned as I used to be knowing the flyer itself is on the same website that promotes the “Courage” ministry. After all, it would be incredibly schizophrenic of them, don’t you think, to promote something like “Courage” and yet also support something that condones gay sex? The thought boggles the mind.

But maybe this is something that’s slipped under Abp. Lori’s radar. Maybe they are pulling a switcheroo. Like I said, we’ll see!

Its hilarious how some Catholics here speak of Protestants as monolithic

As convenient, while otherwise myopically focusing on differences in attacking SS and ignoring that the the strongest practical unity is among those who most strongly hold to supreme as being the supreme rule of faith as the wholly inspired word of God, and that Catholicism exists in schisms and sects.

Priests are authority figures, and lay people expect them to know and teach the faith accurately- not a safe assumption nowadays." Jim Burnham stated on Catholic Answers that Seventy percent of Roman Catholics do not understand the Eucharist.

I could go on and on. I didn't even mention any of my "We Have Apostolic Tradition"- The Unofficial Catholic Apologist Commentary " posts. In those posts, you can see that Catholic apologists disagree with each other when they interpret the Bible. Then there are the big issues, like evolution. If you want to see diversity of opinion, simply try and nail down a Catholic apologist or a Catholic theologian on it. You would think Catholic theologians could at least be unified on Luther and the Reformation. Some say Luther was sent by Satan, others think he wasn't such a bad guy.

Shall we conclude that an infallible interpreter + infallible tradition + infallible scripture = harmony? The facts speak for themselves

Interesting don’t you think? It seems the militant gays are scared about this too. I wonder why....

Let’s be real: they are worried for the exact opposite reason than we. For me, that’s a huge relief. It’s a huge relief to know the militant homosexual, who seeks to celebrate their behavior rather than embrace Christ, is worried about this same event.

And I submit, it should alleviate at least some concern around here.

For the record I’m still going ahead with the plans I described earlier. Just thought I’d share these findings now.

May the “best” Christian turn the other cheek first.

Being a Christian, whether Catholic or some other kind, is not a contest. There are genuine differences in Biblical interpretation and tradition as well as in culture that are still not sorted out. Over the past 2000 years, we have made progress towards respectful coexistence and dialogue, but continuing to taunt and sneer at other denominations does not help either the taunter or the tauntee. An open mind is a teachable mind, and God is the teacher, through the Holy Spirit.

Both the major traditions in Western Civ, Catholic and Prot/Evangelical, have faults and flaws; but both through possessing the strength to differ from one another have made critical improvements in themselves; and above all, both have made fundamental contributions in building the Kingdom and setting the stage for Christ's return, which will happen when the entire world has had a chance to hear the gospel.

With the rise of electronic communications ("prince of the powers of the air"), that day is soon approaching. That is why the principalities and powers of tyranny -- atheism, socialism, communism and Islam -- are so very upset and waging war on the universal church. It is time for us to set aside our sectarian tensions, "for now we see through a glass darkly", and at least respect one another as allies. If your church is true, you will recognize the Great Commission and act with love, not spite, towards other faith traditions within Christendom.

Peter Damian's Book of Gomorrah addresses the immorality in the Catholic clergy that existed CENTURIES before the Protestant Reformation.

I'd have to study it further; but IMHO I've come to believe that the homosexualist undercurrent may be one of the instrumental reasons for the RC tradition of unmarried priests, which only came around 800 years after the Apostles, several of whom were married. That is not to say that there haven't been literally millions of celebate priests over the centuries who were faithful to the spirit of the stricture and to the Word of God -- surely the majority. But the policy decision may have been "helped" along by a powerful subculture in the ancient church. As we see now in the halls of power, once the homosexual hysteria bursts out into the open and demands accommodation, nothing else is sacred.
