For smartphone fans around the world, things really started to get interesting over the past couple of months. First, Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone in late February, revealing a smartphone that was quite impressive and touted a number of great new features, but failed to live up to the hype stirred up by dozens of rumors. Then, HTC unveiled its own flagship phone, the HTC One (M8), and launched it the very same day.

I have a HTC. Went back to the store to look for a case and was asked how I like the music on it I said music? I don’t know how to get music on it, just wanted a phone and email.
The new HTC phones have speakers on the front, makes the sound MUCH better.
I like the iPhone 5s. Amazing phone. My boys like the Samsung, but they cannot show me why it it better, except for a larger screen. But that makes it more inconvenient to carry.
Htc wins.
I guess I am to old fashioned for all this new phone tech stuff. All I need is for it to stay charged and allow me to make a call!
What’s a “smart phone”?
If you want to put music on it, plug it into your computer and just drag and drop. I don’t put music on mine but have dozens of audiobooks that I listen to while I commute.
I prefer the Samsung because of some of the work I do. I have a travel memory card with all of my reference material pre loaded as well as a couple of spare batteries. Sometimes I go nearly a week between opportunities to recharge.
Whats a smart phone?

A phone with a lot of features you won’t understand and will never use. :)
For me it’s two reasons Samsung is better than an Iphone; One, you can replace the battery. Two, you can add more storage.
I like my Samsung Galaxy Note 2, thank you.
You mean you don’t Freep on the go?
I just upgraded to the HTC One M8 and love it! I’m not a fan of plastic phones and that’s always been a turn-off for me with the Galaxy models. The design is excellent. My biggest frustration with smartphones has been the poor battery life. It seemed I was always charging my old Nexus 4 and it was quite frustrating. Sunday, I hiked Mission Peak in Fremont. It took three hours and I listened to music the whole way, while running GPS (Map My Walk). I also snapped photos at the top. By the time I got back to my car, I still had 78% battery remaining. My Nexus 4 would’ve been dead.
In addition the Nexus 4 only had 16GB . The HTC came with 32GB and is expandable so I popped in an old 32GB MicroSD card to quadruple my memory. Finally, the HTC is able to use T-Mobile LTE for amazing download speeds (24 MBPS).
Thanks for posting the comparison!
Piece of cake to change the battery in an iPhone. 5 minutes or so.
The new HTC One lets you use the same memory cards as the Samsung Galaxy. They are easier to change out in the HTC too (it has a memory card slot on the side instead of under the battery).
The removable battery is an issue however. I usually keep cell phones long enough to replace the battery at least once. Plus I like to have a spare battery that I can swap out, but that is less of an issue now since there are low cost rechargeable external batteries that you can use with any cell phone (you just plug it into the usb port).
That is my biggest problem with the Galaxy. It just looks and feels cheaper compared to the HTC One.
My biggest problems with the HTC One are the lack of a removable battery and the picture quality is reportedly not as good as the Galaxy.
They sell larger models with much longer charges, but this one is about the size of a cigarette lighter and only costs $30.
