April 08, 2014, 12:54 pm Husband of woman McAllister kissed: 'He has wrecked my life'

By Rebecca Shabad

The husband of the woman who was caught kissing Rep. Vance McAllister (R-La.) in a video that surfaced Monday says the congressman has destroyed his life and marriage.

“I’m just freaking devastated by the whole deal, man. I loved my wife so much. I cannot believe this. I cannot freaking believe it. I feel like I’m going to wake up here in a minute, and this is all going to be a bad nightmare,” Heath Peacock told CNN on Tuesday.

Peacock told CNN he wasn’t aware of what happened until his wife, Melissa Peacock, 33, called him a few hours before the news broke.

“He has wrecked my life,” Peacock said of McAllister on CNN. “We’re headed for divorce.”

The couple has been married for six years, and they have a 6-year-old son.

“It was just a kiss; that was all it was, but it embarrassed me and my family,” Peacock said. “This guy has turned my life upside down.”

His wife was seen kissing McAllister in surveillance footage that went viral on Monday. The Ouachita Citizen said it obtained the video clip from an anonymous source. It was recorded on Dec. 23, a month after McAllister was sworn into office.

Melissa Peacock was the congressman’s district scheduler, and was taken off payroll as of Monday night.

McAllister, meanwhile, says he doesn’t plan to resign and has asked God, his family and his constituents for forgiveness.

The congressman said he told his wife of 16 years about the encounter earlier this year, and they are working through it.

McAllister was elected to replace Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-La.) in a special election last fall. He ran ads touting his Christian faith, but Peacock told CNN he believed that was just a ploy for votes.

"I know his beliefs. When he ran one of his commercials, he said ‘I need your prayers,’ and I asked, ‘When did you get religious?’ He said, ‘When I needed votes,’ ” Peacock said. “He broke out the religious card, and he’s about the most nonreligious person I know.”

Agreed. But the husband is blaming the Congressman of ‘wrecking his life’.... the wife is also a participant.

I just watched the video... that was NOT a first kiss. That was the kind of kiss that happens at the end an eventful evening.

Ms. Peacock has all the questions to answer on this, as it is possible she set the whole thing up and even had someone film her actions in order to embarrass the congressman. For that, she is deservingly out of a job and will never work in politics again.

Not worth breaking up his marriage. Especially with a young child; should get counseling and try to work it out.

Tht looked like a full blown tonsil massage. And unless they had a chaparone, we know what it probably led to, or was following.

Difference is most Democrats run on “anything goes” as far as sexual morality. Many Republicans run on “family values”. So Republicans will hang on it.

Very much like a Police Officer who get’s a DUI or shoplifts. If you are in the business of holding people accountable for their actions you better be clean.

women are much more likely to forgive their husbands of infidelity than men are willing to forgive their wives... that is just the way it is...

If he thinks it was just a kiss he need to familiarize himself with the term ‘trickle truth’. Kissing is all he can prove right now. The truth will come out though and I suspect it wasn’t kissing. These are grown people, not 13yr olds in Jr. high.

I would not so much as shake hands outside a private place-where there are no other people, no cameras-surveillance or cellphone-and I don’t know anyone who would. What is wrong with these people?

Was it a heavy embracing kiss or just a light kiss?

1. I’d be very interested in finding out how the media go ahold of surveillance video.

I saw the video. It looks like a guard used his cell phone to record the surveillance monitors.

Republicans who fool around should never forget that the security guards and janitorial staff around them are predominantly Obama-voters.

Infidelity has different consequences for men as it does for women. The wife’s infidelity raises the horrible question are the kids mine?
