Apple has revealed that iOS 7 is now running on an impressive 85% of iOS devices, compared with just 2.5% of Android devices running the latest version, KitKat.
In a change to its developer website at the end of on 25 March, Apple revealed that its newest mobile operating system is now running on 85 per cent of iOS devices, according to data collected over the 7-day period ending 23 March. That's up from the 74 per cent Apple boasted at the beginning of December, and the 78 per cent touted at the beginning of January. The increase comes at the expense of iOS 6, which dropped from an 18 per cent share of devices to just 12 per cent - good news for Apple. Just three per cent of iPads, iPhones and iPod touches are still running earlier versions of iOS.
Apple released the significantly redesigned iOS 7 on 18 September alongside its new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. It's an impressive figure to reach within just six months, particulary when you compare it with the Android figures collected by Google in the 7-day period ending 3 March, which show that just 2.5 per cent of Android devices are running KitKat, the latest version of the operating system, while 62 per cent are running iterations of the earlier Jelly Bean version.

For the readership!
I’ve noticed that the phone dialing screens have a reduce call/answer footprint. I’m assuming it is to reduce cheek/jaw disconnects and butt dials. :o)
Did their report say what percentage of those users are REALLY PISSED OFF about the drastic reduction in battery life with the new iOS?
I just hope the OS doesn’t continue to eat up a larger and larger portion of my 15 gb harddrive. I love my ipad but can’t afford to upgrade it every two or three years.
I guess it's time to trade it in on a new model.
Do you have a report on the sizes and what the increases are? I would be interested in seeing that.
“Did their report say what percentage of those users are REALLY PISSED OFF about the drastic reduction in battery life with the new iOS?”
Sorry, mine is fine.
Perhaps some of the Apple hardware got too close to a Windows machine - which as we know is bad for both people and hardware.
Badda bing, badda-boom!
I’m sure most of the “holdouts” (but not all) are running devices that don’t even support iOS7, such as the iPhone 3GS and earlier.
I should mention that one of the things I considered important on my iPad was the storage space that I got. I got 64 GB. Next time around, I’m getting 128 GB.
Definitely! It’s time to get that iPad Air. AND ... you did good, because “leapfrogging” device versions can easily save you money and you can still have a viable product to use in the meantime - because Apple devices last for a longer time than others (and “functionally” so).
We recently purchased our first IPhones and noticed how quickly the batteries depleted.
I was listening to Rush recently and he was complaining about the battery life issue. He said that he has been charging his phone completely and then shutting it down and restarting it. He contends that he has experienced longer battery life using this method.
I have been doing the same and it appears that it does impact the life of the battery charge.
EODGUY
I dunno why, but if you see the battery life decreasing quickly after a recharge, you can try restarting the phone. I’ve seen the battery life jump back up significantly after doing so. A little annoying, but it’s not actually the battery.
Have no worry ... whatever is causing that will be addressed. It always is, when glitches pop up (and they do pop up, as is true for everyone).
I'm seriously considering just going with a tablet that accepts sim cards for my next unit. Then I essentially have unlimited storage space. The only thing holding me back is the investment I've made in Apple media such as movies and television shows which I essentially forfeit if I go with another brand of tablet. But for that I'd go with the Samsung in a heartbeat.

Yes, and you won’t regret it. I’m like you...I don’t need the latest and greatest ALL THE TIME. I love all my apple products but typically “skip several generations” between upgrades. The continuing software updates that Apple does for a long time on each generation makes for happy customers such as myself.
I don’t think - for the majority of users - it’s important to go beyond 128 GB. But if so, I would start looking at cloud storage. There are some good options there.
But, there’s also another option for carrying around a HUMONGOUS AMOUNT OF DATA, and that’s to get a WiFi hard drive (of humongous size) and have that with you. I’ve looked at those and it’s a cool idea.
Sorry, mine is fine.

I guess you don't realize a lot of IT people still regard Apple users as technophobes, gay or both...
Bazinga!
I haven't noticed a significant reaction in batter life - it might even be slightly better on my 4S. I'd suggest going into settings, though, and disabling some of the automatic updates (like App Store/iTunes Store) and background app refresh if you don't need it and maybe shut some stuff off in location services that are unnecessary. That usually fixes battery life issues.
I’m one of those holdouts... I updated my iPad4 but really like the look and feel of the old version better. I really dont plan on updating my iPhone5 and ipad mini.
