Why Lewinsky Shouldn't Be a GOP Talking Point (Barf alert)
The National Journal ^ | Sunday, February 16, 2014 | Ron Fournier

Posted on 02/17/2014 8:34:52 AM PST by kristinn

Bill Clinton uses a car-racing metaphor to explain the difference between rash and calm decision-making in politics. “The great drivers, when the cars get close, the turns get hairy, they calm down, and they see everything, and they act,” he says. “The ones who are fearful and can't concentrate and can't calm down, run into the wall.”

Republican leaders should pay attention, because on the issue of whether Clinton’s sex life is relevant 14 years after he left office, they’re once again careening toward a wall.

Sen. Rand Paul dredged up Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky and his subsequent impeachment, telling an interviewer last month that Democrats don’t have the moral high ground on women’s issues because the former president’s “predatory” behavior toward the White House intern.

“One of the workplace laws and rules that I think are good is that bosses shouldn’t prey on young interns in their office. And I think the media seems to have given President Clinton a pass on this,” the Kentucky Republican said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

I’ll add one more reason. Focusing voters on the past may be a subtle way to argue that Hillary Clinton is not about the future.

Here’s the problem: While Clinton bashing may be a good pre-primary tactic, it’s a lousy politics for the Republican Party in general. We know that because Clinton registered the highest approval ratings of his presidency during the period between the January 1998 exposure of his affair and February 1999, when the Senate voted to acquit him.

In July 2012, Clinton’s approval rating registered at 66 percent, higher than any time since he left office. Two-thirds of women gave him high marks, as did 44 percent of Republicans.

Being a sexual predator is no big deal when you're a liberal Democratic ex-president trying to get your enabling, predatory wife elected president.

For Ron, it’s bad form - not cricket, to bring up events for which Hillary and Bill have no defense except “BJs aren’t sex” and what the meaning of “is” is.

You have to only bring up Hillary’s record! No, er wait. Anything but BENGHAZI! Anything but what she didn’t do as SoS, anything like that.

Explains why there are so many single Mom families today, they didn't have stable Mom's and Dads to teach them right from wrong.

Sadly, Americans no longer seem to care about the sexual morality of their leaders.

Anything that does political damage to Hillary must be taken off the table. Lewinsky is bad enough. Don’t even mention Juanita Broaddrick.

The libs, and many of the GOP as well, are missing a key point. The left has declared that the GOP is guilty of a “war on women”. In fact, most of the perpetrators of any such war are Democrats. By bring up all of the crimes of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Republicans inoculate themselves from such attacks. Any attack can easily be repelled by turning the tables on the Democrats by bringing up the truth. The “war” will be over.

Mr. Fournier may be tactically correct. When Republicans start talking about women, they sound like textbook misogynists. Calling women - even Hillary - sluts, ugly, whores, fat, c***s, dykes, and so on is not going to win votes.

Clinton lied.
Clinton paid an intern to lie under oath.
Clinton engaged in workplace sexual harassment.
Clinton’s wife engaged in a campaign of terror and smears against those who might speak out (including the victims).

NOW feminazis don’t give Rat’s a$$ about women.

The War on Woman is being waged alright and the Democrats are the ones against them!

What he said was a little more complicated than this. But don't let that get in your way, Ron.

Everyone should read Kathleen Willeys commentary, linked at DRUDGE today.

She’s given us the ultimate talking point:

Whenever the RATs say “War on Women”, we respond by saying:

“Hillary Clinton IS the War on Women!”

Repeat until Nov. 2016.

Democrats were misogynist towards Hillary and even called Bill and Hillary racists during the 2008 primary when she was challenging the Golden Child Barack Hussein Obama. Even Bill spoke out about being called a racist.

After she negotiated a cabinet position, all was forgiven.

The Democrats then doubled up on their misogyny against Sarah Palin (calling her a c**t, a b***h, lynching her in effigy, making rape jokes about her and her daughter on national television).

I ain’t buying it.

The Rats are anti-woman.

Back in the day the Republicans were dragged kicking and screaming to impeachment. They didn't to do it but what happened with Lewinisky, the coverup and the hypocrisy was so blatant that it couldn't be ignored. So the ramifications of exactly what happened never got out thanks to the press.

The left is screaming about this because they're trying to rewrite history. In reality Hillary aided and abetted a serial sexual predator. She is the anti-women candidate and that point needs to be hammered home.

Personally, I thought the whole thing stunk.

Kenneth Starr was named with the expectation that he would waste vast amounts of money and importantly, time, yet would not seriously investigate any the really illegal crap the Clintons had done. And he did exactly what they wanted him to.

Bill and Hillary were facing dozens of serious felony accusations, none of which were investigated. But to put a final nail into the coffin, to demonstrate that the POTUS is indeed “above the law”, Starr finally took a petty charge, pretended that it mattered, and presented it to the Republican house, knowing full well that the embarrassed senate would never convict.

And they didn’t.

As such, the impeachment was made into a joke, and the Republicans suffered for it, even being berated by their RINO leadership in the senate. The end result was “How DARE you peasants question your betters?”

And that is what the Lewinsky affair amounts to.

It is only being brought up now because both the RINOs and the Democrats think of it as an embarrassment to the conservatives. Like a parent at a dinner party, telling their family friends about embarrassing things their now adult children did when they were young. In front of their adult children.

“Well, little Bobby had just reached puberty and was confused about his sexuality, which explains ‘the monkey incident’ at the zoo.”

Such a display of meanness is not done for Robert’s benefit, but to humiliate him by reminding him of his humiliation.

And by bringing up the Lewinsky affair, that is exactly what the RINO leadership and the Democrats want to happen.

They are once again spitting on us.

I’m a whole lot more worried about Hill’s pro-Islamicist ties than anything Billy might get into (so to speak)...

another 8 years of sell-out to our enemies may very well leave America so weakened as to be unable to ever recover

The Rats are anti-woman.

I agree. However, the MSM conspires to hide a lot of it, while shining a bright light on the attitudes of Republicans.

I don't think that emphasizing Bill Clinton's sexual history is a winning tactic. However, I could be wrong; time will tell.

Frankly, his lying to a Federal grand jury and the raping of Juanita Broaddrick is what is the most important point. Broaddrick can;t bring a case to court, but she can really destroy HC (if Broaddrick does not get destroyed first).
