Oh...and I don’t pretend to know if this guy is guilty or not...I would want a whole lot more information than I’ve got now.

Yep. From the Pilot article....

“The military is reluctant to make findings in any kind of sexual abuse cases,” said Betty Wade Coyle, executive director emeritus of Prevent Child Abuse Hampton Roads. “Especially if it’s an officer, it practically takes an act of Congress.”

Constant war without a clearly defined strategy, using the armed forces as a Petri dish for social experimentation, constant fear of having a career ruined by not adhering to PC dictates, all have hollowed out our military to the point that it is close to being a detriment to our national security.

Why didn’t he go to prison?

I wonder....just wondering...what the chances are that this unnamed Lt. is of Arabic descent, to put it politely. Abuse of children is a cultural thing in some of those circles.

I’m not so sure this is not an islamic family.

Click the link to the Pilot article. They have a picture of one of the child victims. Not enough to tell us definitely one way or the other, but....

Read the whole story. The guy may very well be guilty, but the article is way biased. No numbers to compare this problem with the civilian world. The kids have a ton of problems. In the olden days this article would be called “Yellow Journalism”. The article wasn’t written as news to inform the public. It was written as propaganda to sway people’s opinions.

A picture doesn't always tell us a thousand words, but...

An unidentified child - and one of the subjects of the story - has her portrait made Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at the undisclosed motel room where she, her mother and her three siblings are living after two of them were sexually molested by their father, a Navy officer. City social workers found the allegations credible, but the Navy cleared him. He has been able to continue in his Navy career unhindered while the children and their mother are destitute. (Rich-Joseph Facun | The Virginian-Pilot)

Exactly the kind of people Obama wants in his military and government.

They become beholden to him and he knows they will do almost anything.

You make a valid point.

The original accusation came during apparently contentious divorce proceedings, and was made by his wife (now, former wife).

There is definitely a chance the guy did not do what he is accused of doing.

However, I cannot understand why anyone would admit to something so heinous if the accusations were completely without merit.

That’s the problem, no? He wasn’t convicted of anything. Not even criminally charged, as far as I can tell from the article. Just a bureaucratic designation by a social worker(s). Do you want the pencil pushers in charge of this stuff? I don’t. I wonder why no criminal charges were filed.

You read the whole story. Propaganda? Really?

And read the links within the article. This article has facts and figures to back up the numbers.

No numbers to compare this problem with the civilian world.

So what's your point? If enough creeps are doing it in the civilian world, that makes it OK for Lt. ChildRapist to do it? Gimme a break.

I don't care what the numbers you speak of are.

Officers in our Armed Forces are expected to maintain a higher standard. This POS admitted his crime.

Castrate him.

Have you ever read a book by Anthony Burgess called “The Wanting Seed”?

It’s a “bleak future” novel which covers pretty much every item on your list. It’s a reasonably short book, and an easy read. I highly recommend it.

So what if he did plead down? By his own admission - HE IS GUILTY and should be doing hard time as of now.

Child protective services can't throw people in jail. He was never charged with a criminal act by the Navy or civilian law enforcement. Both organizations investigated the incident. The Navy cleared him of wrongdoing while Virginia Beach city police declined to prosecute due to insufficient evidence.

Proving a criminal case requires a higher standard of proof than the one used by the child protection agencies. Prosecutors must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Post 16 is very telling. I think he plea-bargained. Down from a level 1 sex abuse charge to a level 2. And if he plead guilty to level 2, then they would forego criminal charges.

Just speculation on my part.

But one thing is clear. PROVING these charges is next to impossible. So the civillian courts and the Navy itself just plays the hand they’re dealt with and life goes on.

Meanwhile the rape victims live in squalor.
