Upset at President Barack Obama's policies on Iran and Syria, members of Saudi Arabia's ruling family are threatening a rift with the United States that could take the alliance between Washington and the kingdom to its lowest point in years.
Saudi Arabia's intelligence chief is vowing that the kingdom will make a 'major shift' in relations with the United States to protest perceived American inaction over Syria's civil war as well as recent U.S. overtures to Iran, a source close to Saudi policy said on Tuesday.
Prince Bandar bin Sultan told European diplomats that the United States had failed to act effectively against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, was growing closer to Tehran, and had failed to back Saudi support for Bahrain when it crushed an anti-government revolt in 2011, the source said.

They don’t call them petrodollars for no reason.
There’s only three articles in a Google news search about this, the one posted and two from third tier news sources.
Is the story bogus or is the entire US media that complicit in covering for the Administration?
That headline is a damned lie.
The Daily Mail is the most poorly written and edited newspaper I’ve ever read, and yes that includes anything in the U.S. in the past ten years. I’ve never seen so many contradictions within a story or a headline that has no basis in the story as I have in this rag.
Looks like the president’s endless toadying to the Arabs hasn’t gotten the US very far.
There really is only one reliable American ally in the Middle East, but don’t attempt to tell this to the demonstrably anti-Semitic Obama
Saudi Arabia is no friend but I would be far more worried about a nuclear armed Iran. As for Syria, let Allah sort it out.
Buh bye!!! Lose our phone number when the Iranian tanks are rolling across your border and the royal family needs to take a powder to a safe place. Call France, Germany or the UK.
You answered your own question.........
Actually we get most of our oil from our US domestic production, Mexico, Canada and South America.
Another one bites the dust....
Theres a major disruption in the status quo occurring right now.
There's a disturbance in The Force.........
The Saudi sheiks blue eyed warriors didnt snap to attention when he summoned them..
My contempt for Obama knows no bounds, but the Saudis can kiss off quite frankly. Gather up all the utterly useless sheiks, sultans, emirs, princes and the rest of the dilettantes that comprise the fetid House of Saud and fight your own damn wars.
as if millions of voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.... er, wait no, as if China and Russia and Saudi Arabia and a number of other G20 nations are suddenly aligning against the US and threatening to collapse western capitalism by ending the petrodollar arrangement.
Time to trade US dollars for hard assets.
My wife says that’s what happens when you let the little children eat at the big table.
Lead and Brass are hard assets..........
It appears that a lot of folks here do not understand that without Saudi backing the US dollar is WORTHLESS. This could be a very very bad thing for the US economy. The only thing we really export bysides airliners/weapons is dollars. And the only reason we can export dollars is they are needed to buy Saudi oil. Should that change then the world will no longer need (or want) dollars and the value of a US dollar will drop to near nothing.
An excellent investment.
Man our fracking must have really ticked them off.
