Folks who live in the Great Smoky Mountains have just about reached their breaking point with the federal government.
Its almost like they are pushing to see how far they can push before the American people say enough is enough, said Ed Mitchell, the mayor of Blount County, Tenn. We were founded on a declaration of independence. And they are about to push the people to the line again.
Nearly a third of Blount County is inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. So when the federal government shut down the park, it also shut down one of the areas chief sources of revenue.
The National Park Service also closed the Foothills Parkway, a major thoroughfare in the county. The closure came without warning and left the local school district scrambling to get children back to their homes.
(snip)
Even more insulting is the National Park Service wont allow family members to visit old grave sites.
Some of them have family members buried there, the mayor said. And they go and visit every week at the churches still in the cove. They are not able to do that.
Its gotten to the point where Mayor Mitchell said Americans are ready to start fighting back. Its almost like they are pushing to see how far they can push before the American people say enough is enough, he said.

Wait until some of those hillbillies turn into hellbillies and go all Zell Miller on them.
Martial law nor Marshall Law will be able to save them then.
Reminds me of a coal miner quote from a movie.....
“I crawl two miles underneath a mountain every day just to feed my family. I ain’t scared of no kind of a damned cop!”
What gets rewarded gets repeated. Naming and photoing the actual federal employees who are carrying out the orders issued from on-high will go along way towards encouraging federal employees who are doing this to not act this way again.
Is that like the Marshall Plan?
First the One will call them Conferate Mountain Honkys.
“Yes, I can say it and I can also spell it. Martial Law.”
‘Glad someone can—because we’re going to be tasting it soon.
MASS CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE!
NOW!!!
Marshall who?
Timing is critical. If they wait too long to precipitate action, they’ll discover the rebels are a lot larger in number than they expected.
I wanted to "like" your post. Forgot I wasn't on Facebook.
Keep your s__t off the Internet.
This is all ordered by the big guy. He’s inflicting maximum pain on the people. Is he hoping one of the folks will do something stupid?
Like MLK or not, he proved how effective civil disobedience can be against a tyrannical government. This crisis demands some acts of mass, nonviolent civil disobedience against the Mahdi’s tyranny.
Like many of you, I’ve grown weary of hearing most of the pundits and politicians pussyfooting around this subject. With the exception of Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Lee and a handful of others on the conservative side, none have come right out and said what every THINKING American KNOWS!
The fight over Obamacare is about stopping the unvetted, unqualified, narcissistic megalomaniacal former community organizer and tyrant in the White House from bringing about his transformation of America. That phrase was and is code among his dumbed down and/or uninformed supporters for creating a despotic Marxist redistributionist Utopia. That it has failed everywhere it has been attempted and left misery and death in its wake is of no concern to them. The magic Obama can make it finally work.
One element that may puzzle some of you is why more of the wealthy captains of industry and capitalists who ostensibly have the most to lose haven’t spoken out in opposition.
Two reasons (there may be more):
1. They believe they will be princes in the new order, their lives of wealth and ease little affected by the distress inflicted on the us down here, the mass of the great unwashed. They really should restudy the histories of those who collaborated with other tyrants who, once in firm control, dispatched those who had the resources and intellect to topple the new king once the inclination to do so took hold of them.
2. During the Cold War, the head of Citibank, one Walter Wriston, was asked why his New York based organization continued to provide financing to the tyrants running the Soviet Union and the slave states the USSR dominated. He replied that it made little difference to him what sort of government these nations had and his only concern was Can they pay their bills?
The WWII era Norwegians coined a real world name for those folks: Quisling.
Agree, most of the foot soldiers are just anonymous functionaries and can take comfort that they aren't identified. How many of them would continue to carry out these orders if their pictures, names and addresses were published for their neighbors and all to see. As a minimum, there should be a drastic increase in the flu striking the ranger corps.
Would they care if they “strengthen resolve” if their top goal is to have an excuse to use the power of the state to exterminate their political/religious enemies?
Sounds like Obama thinks he’s a Medieval Pope - put the entire Country undeer an INterdict until he gets his way.
The next thing you know he will be snuffing out candles on the White House steps and cursing Cruz, Boehner and the other GOP leaders.
He is such a clown. Only this opponents’ fears inflated his image so menacingly, once they had the guts to stand up to him.
Ignore them. Break through the roadblocks and go visit the cemetery. Can you imagine the outrage if a widow was arrested for daring to go lay flowers on her husband’s grave? Think Orval Faubus in Little Rock.
We need to provoke incidents like these ... show the world what kind of childish tantrum this embarrassing adminstration is indulging.
We’ve got the moral high ground on this one. Let’s use it.
