Today we took a beating from the jury who heard the case of Richard Warman v. Fourniers and John Does. Their decision was completely unexpected (at least by me) so now we must re-evaluate our position.

Hey, thanks for the URL, I have been using http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/freerepublic
Looks like that is an old URL, again thanksYou're welcome. I'd never even heard of Yahoo Clubs, and even http://clubs.yahoo.com doesn't work anymore. I then found this page from 2001. (You've been around here longer that I have--I probably wasn't even lurking here for at least most of 2001.)
http://groups.yahoo.com/local/clubs_pre.html
Yahoo! Clubs will soon merge with Yahoo! Groups. Don't worry, all your Yahoo! Clubs web addresses and URLs will continue to work, all data and event ownership will be maintained, and your entire club membership will carry over. This will all happen automatically.
I suppose that "all your Yahoo! Clubs web addresses and URLs will continue to work" is no longer true some 12 years later.
Probably like most people, I myself rarely visit the Yahoo group unless this main site is having problems, and there hasn't been posting activity at the group in the last 7 days. Of course, the group is useful when things do happen here, and activity grows considerably when they do.

The jury obviously ruled because they disagreed with the politics of the defendants. Never mind that Richard Warman was suing 69 people. Did the jury ask themselves how so many people could be so wrong, or did they think poor “Dickie” was ganged up on? So apparently you can't name call anyone in Canada or you can be sued and lose. Call them a brownshirt? You just defamed someone. Call them a made up name from South Park. Defamatory.
They also ruled that the owners of website are responsible for anything anyone else posts up there. So in Canada, if a troll goes onto your website, says something defamatory about a 3rd party, you as the website owner can have your pants sued off. Your fault.

Nope. Now no one will want to run a forum or allow comments on a blog as you can now be liable for anything anyone ELSE says.

True. A pastor was brought before the Alberta human rights tribunal and given a lifelong injunction against speaking about homosexuality.
