Maybe someone can put up a sign saying the government has closed America and Karen will give us a go.

Heading to the grocery store to stock up on fresh hurricane supplies. It is going to be wet and windy here in Santa Rosa County Friday night and Saturday.

Karen formed almost exactly where Hurricane Opal started out and is taking or projected to take the exact same path AND hit on the very same day Opal hit.
History appears to be repeating itself here.

It’s predicted to briefly go to hurricane, then immediately drop back to tropical storm strength before landfall. The Gulf (and Atlantic in general) doesn’t seem warm enough to support hurricanes for any length of time this year. The other two hurricanes of the season were only at hurricane strength for about one or two days before fizzling.

Looks like New Orleans may get the edge of it and it will be in Florida, too.
My son flies from Miami, Florida to Houston on Sunday so I hope his plane can get out of there without having to go through bad weather from this storm. Actually, I hope the plane can take off. Supposed to pick him up at 10 am Sunday, hope he makes it.

This is what could reopen the government. The Republicans get spooked about this. Stay strong and let the state handle it.

Thanks NN. Hope you are well. This one looks very similar to I think Opel? Anyway, there are shear winds that should keep this to just a pain in the fanny soak fest. Fingers crossed.

They’ve had huge layoffs lately at the SBA disaster loan national facility. Down pretty much to a skeletal crew, just in time for a storm headed toward New Orleans.

Looks like it'll prolly be a minimal TS as it passes by us here on the AL/GA border Sunday. I've seen worse. And the plants could all use a good late-season watering. Plus, I have a nice honey-do list to tackle indoors this weekend, not the least of which contains getting the stovepipe installed for our wood stove. Let it rain. At least it'll give me an excuse for not skimming the pool. LOL!
