President Barack Obama hinted Friday that he might not strike Syria if Congress rejects his authorization request.
Im not itching for military action and if there are good ideas that are worth pursuing, then Im going to be open to them, he told one reporter who asked if he was seeking alternatives to a missile strike.
Are we on a fast track to military action as soon as Congress renders its judgment one way or the other? the reporter asked Obama, during his morning press conference in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The Jimmy Carter of 1977 to 1981 is not exactly the one you see now. He was not a “know-nothing” but instead a graduate of the US Naval Academy and hand-picked by Admiral Hyman Rickover for the highly selective nuclear submarine program. There was no affirmative action that placed him in those boats, unlike our “first black Harvard law journal” editor who NEVER wrote an article for that publication. He wasn’t a good president (over his head) but not like this.
He was elected through vote fraud. However, because of all the votes he did get there wasn’t much fraud needed.
Now, the question of why did those people vote for him. The voters are dumb but think they’re smart. To prove they’re smart they like to say smart things. The campaign professionals gave Obama smart things to say. The media repeated them so the voters now had smart things they could say. That made them feel good about themselves so they voted for the one who made them feel good. As simple as that.
Well. Barf. That’s so well put and so simple that it just makes me ill that it’s likely also true. And valid.
He probably realized that if he launched a war on behalf of al Qaeda, that’s the end of him politically right there. His “coalition” is already falling apart - the wheels are coming off the wagon.
Hopefully, some more will see that disagreeing with this clown is ok.
If this ass clown was not the President it would be a great theater watching him be revealed as a bumbling idiot. More and more he reminds me of Barney Fife of Mayberry.
serious? So you didn’t explore other option before rushing to war?
Women and minorities, That’s how.
He is what the left accused Bush of being - someone who rushed (or is about to) into war without using diplomacy or allies.
I see his inability to form a coalition of support the poetic justice he gets for having demagogued the Iraq war with defeatist nonsense, pacifistic claptrap, and situational isolationism. Now, after he savaged everyone else with malicious partisan lies, no one trust his mercurial war plan that lurches all over the place. I do regret that Putin’s gaining traction on the American right because I see him as an even bigger fraud than Obama. I realize some Freepers don’t see how he’s not sincere about anything and is no friend whatsoever to free men anywhere.
I believe he is an islamic operative or at least a dupe under control of one. Not sure which branch of islam, but al quaeda seems likely.
If he/they are concerned that starting this war would make it obvious and they don’t want to do that, it means that this is not the end game. It means they have something bigger and more disastrous for the US that they are waiting to unleash. That is my big worry.
If starting a war by striking Syria was their goal, they’d go for it and not care what happened to Zero. So what is next?
Americans shout they want to abandon Obama!
Yes, Carter served but that doesn't give him a pass on how horrible he was at POTUS.
0bama is way outside the norms of diplomacy and I sure hope a few leaders at the G20 told him so. I for one would be very grateful to God if He stayed 0bama’s hand.
There are treaties involved that provide the guidelines on how to handle these things, there are guidelines through the UN and NATO. 0bama’s essential usurpation of world power on the world stage is abhorrent. His impatience with congress and executive orders is one thing, but displaying that same impatience on the world power stage is a whole other matter.
0bama is an egomaniac and has a very serious personality disorder that the Congress needs to address his fitness for duty. Sadly it seems too many around or close to 0bama are in the habit of protecting him. This means one of three things can happen....
1. the controllers continue to control him(all it takes is one bad influencer here to screw this up),
2. 0bama does have a true mental meltdown and is hospitalized under some other health pretenses to hide it, or
3. 0bama goes of the world war deep-end like we are nearly about to witness.
What is really bad is our enemies realize this too and this is why I believe Iran felt powerful enough to threaten 0bama’s family/daughters and other elected officials. They think/know under the right circumstances 0bama can crack.
He's already backing down - good, because I think doing anything in Syria would be a huge mistake. But bad for the US in the long term as our pres__ent has shown himself to the world as a nothing with his legislature having no confidence in him. Our enemies see this and scheme and plot.
Having said all of that I do think Syria is a huge problem. Assad, in my opinion, will fall. He cannot even buy food anymore and his agricultural sector is not working. There are two million external refugees, and millions more internal to Syria. The FSA was supplanted by al Qaeda when Obama dithered and dallied about helping them. The stocks of chemical weapons he has could fall into al Qaeda's hands, and no one wants to take the risk to secure them. This is a nightmare, most of which Obama has voted "Present" as an approach towards resolving.
