Several residents at the “Garden of Eden” sustainability garden in Arlington, Texas, claim that local police raided their farm because they thought tomato plants were marijuana plants.
The police reportedly damaged the garden's property and the crops during the Aug. 2 raid, which included a SWAT team (video below).
“They came here under the guise that we were doing a drug trafficking, marijuana-growing operation. They destroyed everything,” said garden owner Shellie Smith to WFAA-TV.
Apparently, an undercover officer and a helicopter surveillance crew believed there was probable cause that the wrong kind of plant was being grown in the garden and an armed raid was planned.
“They can’t even tell the difference between tomato plants and a marijuana drug cartel," said farm resident Quinn Eaker to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. "That’s just really bad intel.”
According to the Garden of Eden's website, the raid lasted for an estimated 10 hours.
However, the City of Arlington stated: “No cultivated marijuana plants were located on the premises. Narcotics detectives and members of the tactical unit cleared the scene within 45 minutes.”
According to reports, police officers removed legally cultivated plants such as blackberries and okra. Police also removed pallets, tires and cardboard that were used for sustainability projects.
Instead of the damage done to the farm, police spokesman Christopher Cook seemed more concerned about the reaction on Facebook against the police.
“That’s what concerns me about their social media allegations," Cook told the Dallas Morning News. "Yes, they were initially handcuffed, however once it was determined it was secure they were taken out of handcuffs. Typically we wouldn’t do that, but they were compliant."

Yeah, well the Sierra Club has been bought off to look the other way while illegals destroy delicate desert fauna near the border, strew trash and destroy the environment with their illegal pot farm — while California’s pols set aside more open space as off-limits to hikers, campers, cars, dogs, etc.
I no longer walk in the foothills above my home alone, even with my large, pit bull/police dog mix — seen too many illegals lurking around in the back country, hiding in bushes, setting fires, illegally camping, etc. Not worth calling the park rangers, they are overworked and far and few between.
That’s why DH — who has worked in juvenile facilities with murderers, rapists and other criminals and doesn’t intimidate easily — says we’re going to start carrying guns — even here in California.
Gabz is correct, but allow me to add this: The left has highjacked terminology. Certain terms -gay, normal, pride, sustainable, climate, fair, share, choice- are now used with liberals’ own definitions instead of the traditional, correct definitions. Do not let them win by altering your vocabulary to avoid thier new definitions.
” says were going to start carrying guns even here in California.”
Good idea.
I too immediately saw this as a cover story to keep the public from being alarmed that the Killer Tomatoes are on the attack again.
There's no freakin' hope. This country is lost.
Mmmm-mm-mm. (shaking head) You need to get to Texas.
I know we are discussing a cop FUBAR that occured here in Texas, but none the less; Texas is very friendly. Even Arlington.

Arlington, Texas — A family with a passion for gardening and conscious living was raided by the Arlington SWAT team early Friday morning. All 8 adults present in the house were initially handcuffed at the gunpoint of heavily armed SWAT officers, including the mother of a 22 month old and a two week old baby who was separated from her children during the raid. I had a chance to interview Quinn who gave me his first hand account of the raid and the background behind it all.

You would be surprised.
Some people are just natural born stupid.
A few years ago I bought some green onions and celery for potato salad.
The girl at the checkout didn’t have the slightest clue what they were.
Just curious, I can scratch my head with one, pick my nose with another so what do you do with the other three to keep them occupied?
I know what you mean. Fortunately, I live in an area where the only problem is telling the difference between parsley and cilantro!
Agenda 21 form a liberal.

There are not many gardeners around her but mostly liberals that use the word sustainability. I would rather be around the gardeners.
“only problem is telling the difference between parsley and cilantro!”
There’s a quick trick for that and it works every time.
Put it to your ear and listen close.
If it sounds like English it’s parsley, Mexican it’s cilantro.
If it sounds like ghetto-talk, it's grass.
Just ask Ms. Jeantel to translate.

LOL!
Good one.
Good to know!
hands = men that work for a living.
First, they came for the tomato plants.
Then, they came for the lettuce plants.
Soon, they will have enough for a salad, if the rabbit don’t get to the carrots before them.
Y’all are being too harsh. If SWAT doesn’t do so many raids per year they’ll lose funding. This one will go down in the books as a successful op that insured neighborhood landscaping integrity and funding worries have been put off for another week.
Point is, they shouldn’t have been in handcuffs in the first place, friend.
What if they decided NOT to be “compliant”??? What if they decided that Hey...We’ve done NOTHING wrong, get the hell off our property and out of our faces? Could have been a bloody day - and the people on the farm DIDN’T cause it - the cops did.
