I had not heard of what new evidence surfaced that caused a criminal charge.
I have heard that a sitting Grand Jury was bypassed to avoid them from reviewing the evidence.
I had more concern before Zimmerman's acquittal of all charges but the curiosity remains. If there wasn’t evidence for a charge right after the incident what changed four months later?
Was some power trying to suppress a charge or was some power trying to bring a charge?

There was no additional evidence, just a liberal executive branch with a chip against white people on its shoulder.

The original (white) police chief Bill Lee decided that there was not enough evidence to charge Zimmerman, so the Black City Manager fired him and installed the new (Black) police Chief Cecil Smith. Smith has said publicly “ we heard the concerns of the 30,000 demonstrators so we have charged Zimmerman because we heard you.” Pure Black Racism on display for all to see! I just hope that Zimmerman sues everyone who has had anything to do with this kangaroo court process and any media outlets that have used yellow journalism to provoke a fight.
Apparently it was evidence that persuaded state prosecutors to violate GZ’s 5th Amendment rights, and jump straight to the persecution.

It’s Florida’s practice to require an indictment in a capital case. Not having a Grand Jury means there’s no indictment, and no indictment means there won’t be a capital murder charge. However, lesser charges remain in play.
You’re looking at this the wrong way. This wasn’t a criminal trial, it was a political show trial. Start thinking of it that way and everything will start making sense.

What else you need to know? To the left that is all that is needed to proclaim someone innocent.....even if they punched someone in the nose, took them to the ground and were bashing their head into concrete.

Zimmerman was charged with 2nd degree murder less than two months after the incident. I’m not sure what evidence was there when the charge was made nor what additional evidence if any was later developed. In support of the charges, the State filed an affidavit of probable cause, stating that Zimmerman profiled and confronted Martin and shot him to death while Martin was committing no crimes.
