Sadly, I think you are correct. I worked in an office full of women and any professional disagreements were met with personal attacks and snide comments.

That’s why I love IT. (Mostly men.) We get to make decisions based on logical arguments and business objectives not emotional cat fights.

Is there a difference between a mistrial and a hung jury?

A hung (deadlocked) jury created a mistrial. A mistrial may be declared for other reasons, while the trial is in progress.

I'm really happy that Mark got in the picture of a very buff TM and the cutouts.

George is such a good preson. You can tell from his mom and dad that he was raised very proper...old style.

If just one juror says “I WILL NOT vote guilty. Join me or spend the next few weeks sitting in this room until a hung jury is declared “. The rest would fold.

You stated it much better than my thoughts, if I’d posted my original rant I would more than likely been banned.

Actually, any Federal charges are unrelated to the outcome of the state trial. However, I wonder if they will really try to bring civil rights charges, knowing that Trayvon’s history will be a much bigger issue in that trial than in this one.

The federal civil rights violation case only works if he is operating under the cover of law. He wasn’t. That’s a major difference between this and the King trial.

Your options are more limited when you are being beaten by cops than by a private citizen.

There are 3 others here with me who also agree. One of which is female. With you, that makes 4...

We shall see....

“They keep people tuned in. Then tomorrow it becomes even more likely. Tuesday its the tension is unbearable.”

I had two physical therapy appointments scheduled...one yesterday at 5:30pm and one scheduled today for 3:30.

I did go yesterday and asked my physical therapist if I could please re-schedule today’s and I told him why (the trial). He said, “Great...because I was just about to ask you if we could re-schedule!”

My next? Tuesday at 1:30. If the verdict isn’t in, I’m cancelling. lol

Thanks. So illegals aren’t allowed for jury duty - who would have thunk it./s

Believe it or not, here in California the legislature is trying to pass laws to allow illegals to serve on juries AND to allow them to be poll workers.

.but its disheartening that the Prosecution is able to say “use emotion, not facts” and get away with it.

I believe the jury was insulted by that... right after MOM told them to expect Guy to play the chick card on them.

Do we really think this jury hasn’t been tampered with by the feds? Seriously?

After the NSA, FBI, DOJ and IRS messes what’s stopping them from threatening the female jurors. Or their kids. Or their parents? ‘Hey, you wanna convict or mama won’t be getting that chemotherapy she needs’.

I remember the OJ decision. There was a lounge area where I worked, with a TV. There was a bunch of black women there when the news came out, and they were clapping and cheering and having a good old time.

Is there a difference between a mistrial and a hung jury?

It’s like apples and fruit. A hung jury is a mistrial, which means there can be a new trial. There are many other ways of having a mistrial, such as a witness or prosecutor doing some kind of deliberate misconduct that compromises the fairness of the proceedings, or having a number of jurors unable to continue as jurors and not having enough alternates to comprise a legal panel.

(Before the flaming begins, I’m a chick.)

Really? In IT? ;-)

Mrs WBill used to give me a hard time when I was travelling regularly to our computer co-lo facility (Warehouse-sized bldg filled with computers, and a handful of IT geeks to keep them running).

"You tell all the women to stay away from you!" ... "Of course, honey. I will."

It didn't take too long to get that task handled.

I am female and worked IT and STEM related jobs. I have to agree with you 100%. Work was MUCH more stressful in the chick related professions. The men were just more aggressive to your face. Which I can deal with. It’s the knives in my back I have a problem with...
