The devastation is incredible. The Weather Channel is carrying local news from a helicopter. i can only pray the kids had been released before then.
Were there people in the school, or do they keep kids home on tornado days? (never lived in tornado country).
They send our kids home in AL at the drop of a hat with pending severe weather . . . and cancel and afternoon or evening activities . . . and IF early the delay or cancel school altogether in the a.m. The do it rather early in the afternoon to avoid kids being caught on buses, or still at the school or even the high schoolers on the road by themselves. As a parent, I’m glad they do, rather have them home huddled in the closet with me.
being from Indiana we wouldnt stay home because how do know where one is going to land? Nowadays, schools tend to keep the kids IN school until the danger passes. I hope this isnt the case on OK.
What is it with Moore, OK and tornadoes? Its like a magnet.
my y key must be acting up. apoligies for the previous post and the many dropped y’s.
This looks like a view in hell, I cried when the size grew and grew. This beast IMO was 2 miles wide and stronger then a f5. Just horrible!
The good people of Oklahoma are almost uniformly Conservative and strong in their faith in God. Even with a disaster of this magnitude, they’re equipped with the means to handle such things. May God bless Oklahoma and her wonderful, God-fearing people.
I’m in Kansas...and I can’t remember school ever being cancelled because of a chance of a tornado.
The possible danger zone is huge and hard to pin down, until the storms actually start forming.
One of the schools looked big and modern...sometimes that means there is a tornado shelter inside.
I have to wonder how many children are killed in school by tornadoes per year.....
Could be more than shootin’s...
The school looks like a bomb hit. They showed children being reunited with their parents on The Weather Channel. Prayers up for these children I pray to God they all got out Ok
I am watching this on TV and they have a view from a helicopter. I think it may be the worst I have ever seen.
A large area just cleared off.
I cant recall many times when children have been in hurt in schools by a tornado
3:00 schools are open. This week some schools are still in session until Thursday.
Just off the phone with friends in Prague. They say it’s 10 times worse today than it was yesterday! They’re packed, and ready to book at a moment’s notice.
Although I feel for any victims of a weather event, I hope that Free Republic is not taken over with continuous multiple posts of weather news now because that is exactly what Obama is hoping for just as he did with Hurricane Sandy to divert the sheeple from the White House scandals.
Moore schools in session until this Friday the 24th.
