As buzz mounts, Ted Cruz’s White House eligibility again questioned
Washingon Times ^

Ted Cruz’s address at the annual South Carolina Republican Party dinner Friday helped feed growing speculation that the freshman senator from Texas is eyeing a run for the White House in 2016 — and raised yet another round of questions about his eligibility to serve in the Oval Office.

Mr. Cruz was born in Canada to an American-born mother and Cuban-born father, and was a citizen from birth — but that Canadian factor puts him in the company of other past candidates who have had their eligibility questioned because of the Constitution’s requirement that a president be a “natural born citizen.”

neither of Marco Rubio’s Cuban parents were American citizens when he was born, and did not become naturalized until he was about 4

so there ya go

press feeding frenzy about the “constitution” and citizenship, while the Indo-Kenyan with multiple falsified birth certificates posted, bobs and weaves another 3 years

Making Cruz ineligible while maintaining Obama’s eligibility would be a task that even the liberal logical contortionists couldn’t perform. And declaring Obama ineligible ex post facto would undo every action he performed as an illegal president. That would lead, for starters, to the end of Obamacare, and the removal of some very liberal judges, two of whom are on the Supreme Court.

People keep saying “I rather _________(name) be my _________ (office) than run for President or Vice-President.”

Eventually if you want a ‘true conservative’ in the White House, a conservative is going to have to run for the office.

He’s not a natural born citizen. Obama isn’t either IMHO and should be thrown in jail for it. We can’t afford as a nation to change the Constitution just because the usurper seems to have gotten away with it.

Some interesting nuggets in your post...and a couple of potential flies in your ointment. First, there are a lot of crednetialled conservatives who do not agree with your assessment of the Constitutional breach, just as there are a lot who do.

And there's another issue: original intent: the intent of this provision is not to worship a piece of land. It was to protect the idea of America from those who would have more allegiance to another nation. Regardless of where the truth comes down on the technicality, Cruz is in no way in violation of the spirit of the Constitutional provision.

This is a debate I watch from the sidelines, as I have moments where both sides make good points. But when a technicality is in question, I always defer to the intent.

That’s not gonna happen, much as I wish it would, and there are easier ways to end Obama Care.

Rubio parents were legal residents, in accordance with Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, of the US at the time Rubio was born in the US thus making Rubio nBC.

Miami is the capitol of South America. It would be nice to see an emphasis on that region of the world. Cruz in the WH would raise a lot of antennas.

His mother is American. His father, a Cuban, didn’t get his US citizenship until 2005. Meaning Cruz isn’t a NBC. End of story.

Well, the proper conservative candidate has to be above reproach as far as qualifications, and if either of Cruz’s parents were not citizens, then we’d better hold out for a conservative beyond question.

And let it be perfectly clear that such a lack of qualification does not besmirch Cruz’s name in the least. If we want to be a constitutional republic, we’d better insist on acting like one.

I could care less about what Democrats say about eligibility of other candidates since Obama is not even an American.

The SCOTUS has already ruled that ineligibility for an office will not nullify a law.

Making Cruz ineligible while maintaining Obama’s eligibility would be a task that even the liberal logical contortionists couldn’t perform.

They won't try. They'll just stir up the conservatives who don't think Cruz is a natural born citizen with comparisons between the circumstances of his birth and the circumstances of Obama's.

Cruz doesn't need to worry about attacks from Democrats. He's going to have more than enough from Republicans to keep him busy.

He should comment that Obama has already set the precedent that you don’t have to be a NBC.

The Dimocrat MSM will of course challenge this man being eligible for the White House, but not their selected messiah.

I don’t think Senator Cruz will run in 2016( I started working for his Senate election in Feb 2011)
but it is really funnyto see all the Dems all wee wee’d up ovcer him.

He will run someday but in the meantime let the haters wase all their anger on MY Senator. There will be nothing left for the others

Agreed, for 2016 Cruz works best in a “Rodeo Clown” sorta role, distracting the MSM while we fine a rock solid conservative.

Any one who knows Rodeos knows Rodeo Clowns don’t clown around, they are vital in saving the cowboy (conservative) from an angry bull (The MSM aparatus) .
