WASHINGTON – U.S. officials quietly are expressing concern that North Korea could use its “space launch vehicle” to explode a high-altitude nuclear device over the United States, creating an electromagnetic pulse that would destroy major portions of the U.S. electrical grid system as well as the nation’s critical infrastructures.
The concern is so great that U.S. officials who watch North Korea closely are continually monitoring the status of the North Korean “space launch vehicle,” whose status could suggest a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the United States.
They are aware of the three-stage missile North Korea launched last December that also orbited a “package,” which experts say could be a test to orbit a nuclear weapon that then would be deorbited on command anywhere over the U.S. and exploded at a high altitude, creating an EMP effect.

Because WND tells people what they want to hear, and the primary criteria for whether something is true or false is whether it's something they want to hear or not.
And yes, people WANT to hear that North Korea is about to EMP the US.
People enjoy being outraged more than perhaps anything other than sex, and it lets people go on anti-Obama rants. Also lots of people have fantasies about building up their Warlord survivalist empire after society collapses.
I have to emphasize again that EMP is a legitimate concern, but I'm 99.99999% certain that the author of this piece is lying about "U.S. officials" having a specific concern about a North Korean EMP at this moment, and the claim about the US being on alert for such a thing at this moment is false.
Come now North korea capable of such a diabolical ability to have a nuclear bomb exploded high above the USA in a spaceship. North korea with a successful spaceship launched by a rocket, what a joke. Notice the Chinese massing just Northeast of North Korea. What does that tell you.
A. China has become tired of North Korea and will end the fiasco.
B. China will come to the aid of North Korea and advance on the USA with its fleet of aircraft carriers.
We all get a chuckle out of the fat kid in the PRNK.
But they are so inept they have nukes, rockets, and could threaten us in this way.
Seems like something we might want to “consider” getting ready for.

Won't work. They've only got one light bulb in the whole country, and it runs on two D cell batteries.
But I would suggest a different category (Fantasy "News") for WND and the like, which would take it out of the breaking news sidebar and separate it from sources which have at least a minimal level of credibility.

When you ask for a ban on FR, you are asking that other freepers and I be denied freedom to post certain things.
If the reason for that denial is protection of someone else’s rights, or to maintain decency standards, it is understandable and appropriate.
Granted, JR has the right to ban anything he wants because it’s his website... but the service he provides is an avenue for us to exercise OUR rights.
