U.S. on alert for nuclear blast overhead
WND ^ | 4/1/13 | F. Michael Maloof

Posted on 04/01/2013 10:16:00 PM PDT by chemicalman

WASHINGTON – U.S. officials quietly are expressing concern that North Korea could use its “space launch vehicle” to explode a high-altitude nuclear device over the United States, creating an electromagnetic pulse that would destroy major portions of the U.S. electrical grid system as well as the nation’s critical infrastructures.

The concern is so great that U.S. officials who watch North Korea closely are continually monitoring the status of the North Korean “space launch vehicle,” whose status could suggest a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the United States.

They are aware of the three-stage missile North Korea launched last December that also orbited a “package,” which experts say could be a test to orbit a nuclear weapon that then would be deorbited on command anywhere over the U.S. and exploded at a high altitude, creating an EMP effect.

Far as I’m concerned, Slick was responsible for that because he did nothing the first time around.

Those bastards probably waited until a Repub was in just to cause even more trouble for the party...and they did.

Everything worked together to guarantee us what we have now.

Hence, my belief that he’s the final act in a very intentional play.

They don’t have to ‘attack’ us anymore.

He’s letting them conquer from within.

I guess I’m cynical.

WND given more face time and credit than many credible conservative blogs?

Because WND tells people what they want to hear, and the primary criteria for whether something is true or false is whether it's something they want to hear or not.

And yes, people WANT to hear that North Korea is about to EMP the US.
People enjoy being outraged more than perhaps anything other than sex, and it lets people go on anti-Obama rants. Also lots of people have fantasies about building up their Warlord survivalist empire after society collapses.

I have to emphasize again that EMP is a legitimate concern, but I'm 99.99999% certain that the author of this piece is lying about "U.S. officials" having a specific concern about a North Korean EMP at this moment, and the claim about the US being on alert for such a thing at this moment is false.

Come now North korea capable of such a diabolical ability to have a nuclear bomb exploded high above the USA in a spaceship. North korea with a successful spaceship launched by a rocket, what a joke. Notice the Chinese massing just Northeast of North Korea. What does that tell you.
A. China has become tired of North Korea and will end the fiasco.
B. China will come to the aid of North Korea and advance on the USA with its fleet of aircraft carriers.

We all get a chuckle out of the fat kid in the PRNK.

But they are so inept they have nukes, rockets, and could threaten us in this way.

Seems like something we might want to “consider” getting ready for.

Suggesting that 1st ammendment rights be denied is another.

ROFLMAO...this argument gets rolled that out now?

Banning WND articles from FR isn't violating the first Amendment rights of anyone. You do understand the suggestion was banning from FR, not that the site should be shut down, right?

Have no fear! Obama will steadfastly move to reduce our nuclear arsenal.

>>> Banning WND articles from FR isn’t violating the first Amendment rights of anyone.

If I am told that I cannot post on FR from WND because they have reserved certain copyrights, that is one thing.

If I am told that I cannot post on FR from WND because they
are not judged to be credible or newsworthy is another.

I wasn’t talking about WND’s 1st ammendment rights.

“’I am asking for an outright ban of anything coming from that publication.’ ... Suggesting that 1st ammendment rights be denied is another.”

Oh, I meant a ban on FR — not in general. I’m not saying they don’t have 1st Amendment rights.

What bothers me most is IF (big IF) a *package* exists, our manned shuttle program is no longer in operation. Thanks zer0.

EMP them first.

Won't work. They've only got one light bulb in the whole country, and it runs on two D cell batteries.

I don't think WND should be banned, but then I don't think that any site should be outright banned as a source except for those where there is a copyright dispute.

But I would suggest a different category (Fantasy "News") for WND and the like, which would take it out of the breaking news sidebar and separate it from sources which have at least a minimal level of credibility.

Read the article that Justa posted in #65:

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Controls/SendFriend.ashx?print=1&type=1&item=12944

If the article is factual, a package may indeed exist. Not good news.

>>> Oh, I meant a ban on FR — not in general. I’m not saying they don’t have 1st Amendment rights.

When you ask for a ban on FR, you are asking that other freepers and I be denied freedom to post certain things.
If the reason for that denial is protection of someone else’s rights, or to maintain decency standards, it is understandable and appropriate.

Granted, JR has the right to ban anything he wants because it’s his website... but the service he provides is an avenue for us to exercise OUR rights.

I was just not sure if you understood what you were asking for.

I think that WND has gone too far, and my opinion is that FR should not be sending them traffic.

I think you over-estimate the number of Freepers who bother to actually go to the link and read it all.
