What were they supposed to do, send in cookies and wait him out until he shot a few dozen more cops?

Cue teh ‘Poooooor Dorner’ cries.

Deadly force is authorized against someone using deadly force.
Nerf bats and wiffle balls don’t convince badguys to surrender.
And Dorner said he wasn’t going to surrender OR be taken in alive.
He intended to die.

According to police, Quan was the daughter of a retired LAPD captain who represented Dorner at the Board of Rights hearing that led to his firing, and the killings were carried out in an act of revenge outlined in a lengthy manifesto Dorner posted online — blaming Quan’s father for losing his job.

Dorner is also a suspect in the shooting of a Los Angeles police officer near Interstate 15 and Magnolia Avenue in Corona early today.

The officer suffered a graze wound to the head.

About 20 minutes later, Dorner is believed to have ambushed two Riverside officers while they were stopped at a red light at Magnolia and Arlington avenues, according to Riverside police Lt. Guy Toussaint, adding that the two were on “routine patrol” and were not searching for Dorner at the time.

One of the officers — a 34-year-old, 11-year veteran of the force — was killed.

The wounded Riverside officer, who is 27 years old, underwent surgery and is expected to fully recover, Riverside police Chief Sergio Diaz said.

I hope he suffered before he died.

The press has been trying so hard to turn this into a scandal. As if people (other than some left-wing loons) are going to be upset if the police did this. I hope they did it on purpose.

His manifesto blames early childhood racism - that he wasn’t a Christian - that he accepted death after what he claims were false allegations against him by several people of several levels within the LAPD - lists his targets - and states he will hunt down other police officers using irregular warfare with his linkages to his military career - and that in no way they are going to have it easy...how did they know that he didn’t pre-establish a stronghold in that cabin days before - they had no idea...

Doner’s actions and the reason why the LAPD terminated him goes towards support of the LAPD’s decision to let him go..despite losing his clearance — what was that about??? What circumstances did the DoD find to terminate his clearance -— it wasn’t because of the LAPD’s actions - that’s a fact!

When they come for your guns, expect the same treatment.

Crispy, or Extra Crispy?

“Amid sounds of gunfire, voices can be head shouting, “Burn it down!” and “Shoot the gas!”

OK, and your point is?

Incendiary arrows and pots containing combustible substances were used as early as the 9th century BC.

I don’t understand the urgency. They’ve been hunting this guy for days and now he’s essentially cornered.

If they didn’t know for certain that he didn’t have an aresnal and a bunch of food, then they didn’t know for certain if he had hostages. There doesn’t seem to have been much, if any, communication, at least from the reports I’ve read.

Yet they couldn’t wait him out? Not even for one day? Even if just to save the structure and not risk a fire in a state forest?

I wonder if the same people that seem to be upset with anyone that dares question the LAPD in this display of Fear, Poor Training, Affirmative Action and Political Correctness also agreed with Big Jan Reno’s decision to burn out the Branch Davidians.
