Youre visiting your doctor because you have flu symptoms. After checking your heart, pulse and other vital signs, your doctor turns to you and asks, By the way, the federal government has authorized me to ask you, What type and how many guns do you have in your home?
Sounds like George Orwells 1984? Wrong. Its 2013. And if President Barack Obama gets his way by executive order, doctors across the country could play a key role in his new gun control initiative.
On Wednesday morning, Obama released a sweeping 23 executive actions and orders he will take to limit gun usage. Already, talk of the executive orders has raised significant controversy. Order 16, for example, may raise serious concerns with privacy advocates. The order, as summarized, simply states federal agencies will clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.

That's my chair but I don't know anything about that other stuff the old lady has stored in there.
That’s why, for four years now, my phone has been in record mode for every medical appointment. I’m old and a bit bored. It would be almost fun to fight these miserable bastards
Obamacare specifically prohibits doctors and their staff from asking about guns.
Isn't it really stupid to think that the doctor wants to be a cop for Obama? Aren't you kind of a fool to let Obama make you angry at a doctor ?
Your family and friends may accidentally ot purposefully betray you.
Like doctors love Obama, after he's ruined medical care in America!
If some parent didn't like the Hitler Youth Program (i.e. getting pregnant while away at camp) they would be turned in by the Children to the Gestapo for endangering the future of Germany.

Now that right there’s funny...I don’t care who you are.
I have a gub.
I go to the VA so I’m screwed any way you look at it. Those of us getting VA benefits will go a little earlier than the rest.

SHAMELESS plagiarizing!

Any government agent intruding on your privacy is a violation of the 3RD amendment. The purpose for not quartering soldiers in your home is so that a government employee or agent cannot gather information about you and your family.
If the government mandates a doctor to conduct this intelligence gathering then that is a 3rd amendment violation against your right to privacy.
"The whole of the Bill (of Rights) is a declaration of the right of the people at large or considered as individuals .... It establishes some rights of the individual as unalienable and which consequently, no majority has a right to deprive them of."-- Albert Gallatin, New York Historical Society, October 7, 1789
Y’all just agreed? This has been going on for years. My kids are now grown (in the legal sense only) and they were asked back when they still young enough for me to be in the room with them but old enough to know bs when they saw it. Talk about your eye rolls and wrinkled noses. I just sat back and enjoyed watching the fan get hit. Uh, hello, can you not read the records where it plainly states Daddy is in law enforcement? Of course, when Daddy found out, he immediately called to complain and learned he wasn’t the first. It was shortly after that the doctor was no longer employeed there.
As for vets asking, then our vet better turn in himself, too. Yes, hubby and he get into tall tales about such. BTW, the cat became an inside cat after she deposited one too many live presents in the middle of my living room. The last one lost to my old cast iron skillet (yes, I decided close contact was the better option to holes in the furniture). Anyone know if cookware is listed in the banned assault weapons list?
Doctors have been asking about guns for a few years now...
My doctor has been asking for years also. My then 12 year old daughter PROUDLY talked about the gun she’d gotten from Christmas one year.
Of course, we live out in the country and the doctor was a hunter also, so no one raised an eyebrow at that information.
As it should be....
Most GPs and family practitioners can't even spell DSM, much less diagnose out of it, and even if they did the Dx would not be taken seriously as it is defined as a pediatric disorder only. I agree with those who advise to 'just say no' when asked about gun ownership, or if you are on particularly good terms with your current physician make a joke out of it (boat accident, etc.). Around here they haven't asked much about gun ownership because a person who grew up here and DIDN'T own a gun would be the real exception. Will be interesting to see if they start asking anyway.
Here is how that conversation will go with my doc.
Dr. D: Jim, you got any guns in your house?
Me: Why do you ask, Dr. D?
Dr. D: Just wondering if you can spare some ammo. I shot all mine up at the range yesterday
(BTW, my doc’s a prepper and HATES Obumber)
