Most GPs and family practitioners can't even spell DSM, much less diagnose out of it, and even if they did the Dx would not be taken seriously as it is defined as a pediatric disorder only. I agree with those who advise to 'just say no' when asked about gun ownership, or if you are on particularly good terms with your current physician make a joke out of it (boat accident, etc.). Around here they haven't asked much about gun ownership because a person who grew up here and DIDN'T own a gun would be the real exception. Will be interesting to see if they start asking anyway.
Here is how that conversation will go with my doc.
Dr. D: Jim, you got any guns in your house?
Me: Why do you ask, Dr. D?
Dr. D: Just wondering if you can spare some ammo. I shot all mine up at the range yesterday
